"Food was good once we received it!!!! The staff got our order wrong. We ordered for two. We received two drinks, two lots of bread and butter. One fish and chips. We highlighted this oversight and the young lady who delivered our short order told us the second fish and chips was imminent. We watched multiple people being served their meals, but no sign of our order. I approached the staff and asked politely where the second meal was? We were told it was on it's way. By this time the first plate of food is getting cold... I requested the waitress to take this plate of food away so that we could eat together as would be normal. When we did receive the second meal and the original first meal back. I asked why was one meal hot and the original only warm. I now asked for the first meal and the second meal to be taken away so that we could actually have two meals served together... That were hot.... There was no real apology for this poor service. Eventually after an hour of waiting we received two meals together... Not a lot to ask for??? The fish and chips were good. The service was abismal.... When I went to pay, I was offered no apology or discount for the errors and poor service. I asked for a discount and eventually after being made to wait for approximately 10 minutes. Permission for a discount had to be received from the owner/manager. We received 10%. This was not a good experience. We shall not be using this establishment again.... Food good.... Service abismal.... Think twice about having a sit down ordeal in this fish and chip café."

"I'm rarely disappointed by restaurant trips. For me they fall in to two categories somewhere we have researched and want to go; or somewhere functional, like I am away on business and just need a functional meal, and my expectations are adjusted accordingly. The Nut Nettle falls firmly into the former. The idea of a trip to Bridlington first came up almost as a throw away joke as somewhere on the coast for a visit after a business trip to York. Then we started researching vegan options (thin on the ground it turns out, even the old staple of chips is difficult down by the sea front due to the Yorkshire habit of cooking with beef dripping) and found the Nut Nettle which made our mind up several miles of sandy beach and what sounded like an interesting vegan café sealed the deal. We came here for a mid-morning breakfast, and we both chose the mushrooms on toast and an americano coffee. First up I am a bit of a coffee snob, and this was a great cup of coffee served in a pleasingly bright earthenware cup. Then the mushrooms on toast. This is a simple idea, but executed perfectly. This is food of the highest calibre. The UK has plenty of good vegan food (I live in Glasgow where we are blessed with a multitude of options), as well as tasty it is quite often fun, but in terms of quality of food this is right up there with Greens in Didsbury, Manchester as being the best in the UK. We took away a couple of their BBQ sausage rolls and some cakes (rhubarb rose frangipane and banoffee pie type thing) to eat later on by the seafront. Again these were all delicious. It is also a really nice idea taking over a pub that isn't being used during the day to turn it into a café. The staff were also really nice, friendly, welcoming and attentive without being intrusive or overbearing in anyway. The garden out the back looks to be a real sun trap in the right weather. The Nut Nettle is very much the type of place to give you a reason to visit Bridlington, it is well worth the trip."
