"Now, back to the cream tea: it comes with two scones—one plain and one fruit—freshly baked on the premises, along with Rodda's cream, a pot of strawberry jam, and a pot of tea. I think they upgraded our tea pot at no extra cost when I mentioned we were sharing the cream tea. It was more than enough for us to enjoy two cups each. The scones were soft, warm, and a generous size.
All the staff were incredibly friendly and chatty, which made the experience even better. There are plenty of tables inside, but the spacious outdoor seating area is a real treat. It's enclosed by glass panels, the grounds are well-maintained, and it's delightful to sit in the sun amidst the flowers, with an old railway line nearby. Inside, there are photographs of the railway when it was still in operation.
We also tried bacon sandwiches with salad, but the menu has a lot more to offer, including sausage quiche and various snacks. The service was prompt, and the prices were very reasonable—definitely the best on the island!"
