"This is one of three pubs in the village of Great Glen, of which two eat (the other is the Pug and Greyhound). The building is old and pleasant atmosphere, with very friendly staff. There is a pub garden for sunny days. The menu is meat heavy, but has a few vegan options (burgers, mushroom cake) and a vegetarian option (Risotto). I had the Harissa spits for beginners who were very nice followed by the mushroom cake. There were a lot of pastries (and I say that as Carb Queen), but the cake filling was delicious and the chips were great. The pub is owned by Greene King, so the right choice is often limited, but at the night we went, they had something Black Sheep on. A fly in the ointment was that my wife, who is allergic to peanuts, basically had to sign something (on an iPad) until day she was ok with the food there. It didn't feel very friendly, or as if they wanted to care for their allergy rather than an inconvenience and they didn't want to sue them. In addition, the meal was delicious and pleasant enough.
