"As wine enthusiasts we were really keen to taste the wines of Paul Jaboulet Aine on our tour of the area and visited the town specially. We had researched this online and read that individual tastings were not pre bookable so called in early in the day to enquire. The manageress was friendly enough but said they couldn’t do it until later in the day as they had group tastings booked in the morning. She advised come back anytime after 3 and confirmed that we did not need to book. We arrived at 4. She remembered us and suggested we take a seat. A member of staff brought us a wine menu with no explanation and disappeared. We enquired of the manageress was this the correct menu for a tasting, she said no, and brought us the correct one explaining that we could either have a small free tasting or a paid personalised one, and left us to look at it. I should say that we expected to pay for our tasting so there was no problem with that. As I said we were really keen to taste and to learn, also interested in purchasing. After that, we sat, and we sat, and we sat. There were only 2 other lots of people at tables and both had already been served. There were one or two customers in the shop but hardly very busy. No one returned and the manageress walked past us a number of times. It became embarrassing and we felt invisible and unwanted. In the end we left. This highly rated shop/tasting room/ wine bar/ restaurant is a showcase for the brand so such service is surely letting the brand down. The least the manageress could have done was to apologise for the wait and let us know that we had not been forgotten and that she would get someone to come to us as soon as possible. After all she knew we had made two visits clearly interested and keen. We can not recommend this venue and will not be returning"
