Ambrette At Rye - Speisekarte

Well worth a visit! We visited for their afternoon tea with a twist which was amazing! Friendly staff, great food makes this a proper gem!

we had very high expectations of this restaurant, but were disappointed. when someone who has visited many Indian restaurants over the years, I could not eat and bring back the court. in addition, eating lasted an hour to arrive. strange taste. the waiter was extremely...nice and understanding.

I'm not a big deal of fusion food, but that was decent. also the service was attentive. had the seafood starter with crabs, brewed and soft shells. all very good. on two because followed the bark. a light criticism of one of the three pieces. the braut was very over (the other two were perfect).

Visited early on a Sunday evening; the restaurant was very quiet but the waiting staff were lovely. Restaurant is beautifully decorated, really nice layout. The food is terrific we visit South India regularly, and the flavours were really authentic. One of the better Indian...restaurants in the UK.

A new menu has brought in the most superb chicken biriani and some other fabulous main courses. Our favourite starters are still there and the Thali's are also fantastic. Really nice ambience in the restaurant and really good service. It is so nice to have...a restaurant serving delicately spiced authentic Indian food in Rye.

We ate early on a very wet and windy Saturday evening courtesy of storm Dennis. Although not busy the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, helped greatly by the very friendly staff (David and Jess). We had starters to share and really lovely chicken dishes for...the main course. Warmly spiced aubergine too. Very good presentation, prompt service and nice attention to detail. Sharing dessert platter with an emphasis on chocolate was superb. Very good white Rioja to accompany.

a disappointing Valentine's Day evening for us, but not because of the quality of the food we enjoyed very much. there was more the lack of professionalism of the staff and the disappointing table we were given. the table was right ahead. the singer (no loudness control) and it was so small, barely large enough for cocktails, water, weeping and crooked, although larger tables remained empty all night. my mojito came with a yellow color and no one wasted. When I frightened that, the waiter went away and came back to say that they hadn't had enough! but we will be back.

Looking at past reviews we were in minds when considering where to eat. I'm glad we did not heed the negative comments. The food was simply exquisite. A delicious fusion of tastes and flavours ... truly tantalising. Although not overly busy the service was...attentive but unobtrusive, The food was cooked to order and presented beautifully. This is not your standard Asian/Indian restaurant ... so if you are looking for one there are others that provide the usual menu ... here the menu intrigues and sets expectations that are surpassed. A lovely evening on aour last night in Rye.

I have been to all three of the Ambrette restaurants (Margate and Canterbury) and love them all. The food is not curry house style but more like European type dishes with Indian flavours. Works v well whether for lunch or dinner because each dish is...not overly heavy. I wasn't offered a set lunch menu but the other two places offer one and it is excellent value for money (not the same as cheap The Devil is v busy in the evenings as popular with locals, but v quiet during the day probably because visitors are expecting and don't want a heavy curry and there are only two tables visible from the front window, both in the draught, so you can't see anyone eating/enjoying their food.
