"Casa Lo Schiavo has all the power of simplicity and genuine love and care for hospitality. It was the old village grocery, beautifully restored to a bistrot with lots of details and items from times passed. Few tables nicely set outside, in a quiet part of the Main Street il corso) and a well chosen music that invites you to relaxation and wellness. Perfect prelude for a hot summer evening dinner. Massimo, the patron welcomed us, showing us to our table, a menu with few but very tempting choices and inviting dishes of the day superbly described by the maitre). I choose the “Tonno Subito” a tuna steak perfectly cooked, served with just a hint of extra vergine olive oil. I never had tuna so tender, fresh and tasty. My girlfriend had a roll of eggplant, pasta and mince meat ragù while my daughter choose octopus salad and mussels. All gently accompanied by a glass of Vigne di Alice followed by a glass of Secca del Capo very aromatic dry local wine) Chocolate and pistachio tiramisù to end. Far the best meal we have had on the island this summer, all perfect, with outstanding service, the real gem of this establishment. Well done Massimo, you and your time are something of extraordinary. Ah, almost forgot, excellent relation quality-price, eating in Salina is quite expensive, we felt very satisfied with the bill."

Food and service were great, but it was overpriced on house wine (11€ for 1/2lt of an ok Shiraz that you can easily buy for 4€/lt and water (4€ for 750ml of Ferrarelle!!! .

Restaurants in Salina are usually very good. This one was recommended by an Italian foodie friend so we had high expectations. We were so impressed with the menu and so happy with the service that we finished our lunch and booked dinner straight away. We had 2 fantastic meals in one day. If it wasn’t for our departure the next day I think we were going back again and again.

This place is really different. We have done all the Aeolian isles and we have never encountered such a unique restaurant concept. Massimo and his staff are really friendly and the selection of food and wine make this place so good to visit. Must go!!! Special recommendation is the Pistacchio Tiramisu. Also order anything on the appetizer menu. We have had them all. They were great and we are stuffed. The local wine selection is amazing. Well done, Massimo and team!!!

We heard of this place via Instagram and were just too happy to check it out ourselves finally. Great staff/managers and always with a smile. Great knowledge about local wines and food. The selection of local wines is immense and the food concentrates on organic, in season and local produce. Not a huge choice of dishes but nonetheless fabulous all in all. We had dinner here 3 times in total and really felt like coming home each time. It's also a great place to just chillax after a beautiful day with a glass of wine. Will gladly return again in the future.

You must try this place! It’s a fabulous expertly run luxurious ‘Deli Restaurant with tables’ owned by boutique hotel next door I Cinque Balconi. Book a table, have a drink next door first then go eat from their choice of dishes cooked to order by expert chefs and staff who prepare and serve with a great deal of care. Wine selected for us was best we’ve had yet on island. Amuse bouches were generous. So, to eat we had stuffed onion to share to start (but had also fancied the octopus salad or marinated anchovies both of which looked amazing! , then the rice with seafood for Main, which was fantastic! "24/6 We had lunch today in this well known establishment. I was with people very important to me and I was hoping for a really nice experience. Mamma Santina delivered it and more! In Salina most of the restaurant have abandoned the typical cuisine for a more daring (and expensive) approach, offering places that would pretend to be glamorous but most of the times fail to deliver what is promised and expected. Mamma Santina remains one of the few example of typical aeolian restaurant, a place where the hospitality is still sacred and the smiles of the people working there are truly genuine. Immediately you feel like at home, guests at a friend’s house more than customers. Mario (the owner and chef) and Eleonora will tempt you immediately with delicatessen which are results of years of passion, research and love for this job. We had a mix of courses: amongst the starters the parmigiana di alici was outstanding, I had squid with pasta as main course, octopus Salina style, tuna parmigiana which was delicious. Fresh capers’ salad was also incredibly tasty! There were a dozen more things that I would have liked to try, so choice wax really hard. Up to this point everything is normal: a nice place, excellent cuisine, all rare but not unique. What made this experience a triumph was what happened afterwards: they have chilli pepper plants all along the edge of the restaurant terrace and one of my guests love chili pepper. We discussed what could have been the strongest one and Eleonora introduced us to Thomas, an Indian gentleman that takes care of these plants. You could sense his love for them. He carefully chose one, picked it and prepared it for us, mincing it in a cream with onion, garlic and olive oil. My friend tried it and even the gentleman of the table next to us had a go at it. It was really powerful! We than had a lovely chat with our neighbours sipping an homemade citrus liqueur. We realised that this restaurant is framed inside an hotel so we asked to see one of the rooms and it was so lovely that my friends booked it for next year holiday. I could write rivers of words about this place but I won’t do it, I will simply suggest for you to experience it like we did, and ask yourself if your are dreaming or not. Well done to all the staff and in particular to Mario, Eleonora and Thomas for the lovey experience we have had."
