"We got the warmest welcome the nicest service I've had in such a long time. It was so refreshing. The waiters were very accommodating, the food was delicious- I had scallops banoffe pie, my daughter had linguine pescatore chocolate brownie. Safe to say we will return happily recommend to others!! "Amazing! The food is fantastic and the service is even better. We were in town for 3 days on a photoshoot and eat Lunch and Dinner here. The manager Andrew was a gracious host and was the main reason we kept coming back! We also met the owner, Mother . He 's a master butcher! If we stayed one more day, I would have gotten the steak. Thank you for making our visit to Scotland very memorable. For my friends visiting, please tell them Vanelli says hi!"

"Been out for a walk with the dog and we were looking for somewhere for a quick lunch and dog friendly. We were firstly welcomed by Jess (please forgive me if I have the name wrong) the pub spaniel and equally by the Bar Manager. We ordered from the snack menu, toastie with choice of chips and chilli chicken wrap with choice of chips, the chilli chicken and cheese wrap got a muffled nod of approval with a cheesy thumbs up and my toastie was everything you want in a cheese, ham and red onion toastie, including some of the best ham I’ve ever tasted. Thumbs up from me too, thank you the Royal Hotel Bar well done (I was told that the toilets were really clean too 10/10)"

"To date we have been here 3 times. Their main turnover is carry out meals. They also have a small nice and clean dining area. With being mainly a carry out business I reckon all their meals are based on 3 base curry sauces. The curries my friends and I have ordered are good but not exactly the correct flavour. For example: week 1 a Buna tasted of a deep smokie flavour which tasted pleasant enough but a Buna does not have this flavour characteristics. Week 3: I ordered a Celyon which was a different colour and taste from a Celyon I ordered the week before. This Celyon tasted like the Buna from week 1 but a little hotter. I could not detect the lemon and coconut flavour that a Celyon should have. The pakuras were excellent as were the side dishes. Portion sizes were good and the the service was friendly. I will return. After a few return visits (Jan 2019) my friends and myself have given up with the variation in quality of the food. We now go into town for something half decent."

"Lovely place to stay, very clean,the staff are excellent, extremely friendly and welcoming. Plenty of car park spaces. The room was nicely decorated and furnished, the bed was comfortable and was very peaceful, no traffic noise whatsoever which is a problem at many other hotels I've stayed at. The restaurant is very good, prices are about average but food quality is above average, nice atmosphere in the restaurant and serving staff are very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and again the staff were polite and friendly the only thing I could probably say to improve the breakfast is maybe have a self service section for cereals/toast and drinks etc to save calling the staff over when you need something. Probably in my top of hotels I have stayed at in the last Will definitely be staying there again when next in the Edinburgh area."
