"As an ex-pat, I've come to appreciate the way the French go about dining. I now enjoy the relaxed pace -- which stands in contrast to the pressure to turn over tables at American restaurants, I admire the focus on local ingredients -- which stands in contrast to the preference for a uniform and consistent dining experience in the big chain restaurants. Most of all, I appreciate the emphasis on relationships and atmosphere -- which stands in contrast to the mass marketing of the most popular American chains. The French are connected to their dining experience. It is so much more than a refueling stop. De La Bouche A l'Oreille brings all of these qualities together so that you get a genuine French dining experience. When we get a group together, De La Bouche A l'Oreille is at the top of the list because the menu has something for everyone. (Pour moi...it's the best borscht you'll find outside of the Ukraine. That's right, part of what makes De La Bouche A l'Oreille so quintessentially French is the Ukrainian soup!) For others, there's the ris de veau or the oysters. We've even received lessons on how to craft the perfect Irish coffee. For my son who lives in the U.S., it's the chance to get a decent burger when he's visiting us. Again...there's more to being a terrific French restaurant than serving classic French fare. And that's why the De La Bouche A l'Oreille experience is so undeniably French. This is a place to be shared. Go with a group and enjoy one another's company...and the food (whether it's French, Ukrainian, Irish or American)...and the local ingredients...and maybe even an Auvergnat wine, carefully selected (as picking an Auvergnat wine for a wine list is far trickier than picking a Bordeaux or Burgundy)."

just a non-formal, very good value for money opportunity to eat great food and drink good wine. I had a fondue and some desert, all in all just very decent! would come back any time.

We have been to this restaurant a couple of times. The staff are very welcoming and our meals were good but not outstanding. However I did have the tiramisu for desert which was one of the best.

we were in clermont several times and always stick to this wonderful place. good variety on the menu, there is always something, also for my picky 10-year-old and generous selection of local wines and regional delicacies for me and mine. thanks to the...warm hospitality of the chef, who is also the owner of the place and the hostess, we feel most greeted each time. definitiw recommended for authentic experience and will be back safe!

it was lucky that we arrived so soon after the afternoon, because only when he saw that my view of disappointing le patron showed to madame that we could have the last remaining table for two right next to the toilets of course! but what, a great lunch we had at the time. the house terrine was excellent. served with home made relishes, like my wife's tartare de sauman, a generous help, served on a disc or two of smoked salmon. she followed with scallops 'the best I eat 'and I with tartare de boeuf. we have washed with a bottle of an excellent 'doc mix of chardonnay and viognier, and an excellent local ardeche gamay we were on holiday! . as so often in France, the rather harsh outer hides a r...

It was fortunate that we arrived so soon after noon, since only when he saw my look of disappointment did le Patron indicate to Madame that we could have the last remaining table for two - right next to the toilets of course! But what a great lunch we then had. The house terrine was excellent. served with home-made relishes, as was my wife's tartare de sauman, a generous helping, served on a slice or two of smoked salmon. She followed with scallops ('the best I've eaten') and I with tartare de boeuf. These we washed down with a bottle of an excellent 'dOc blend of chardonnay and viognier, and a superb local ardeche gamay (we were on holiday!).As so often in France, the rather scruffy exterio...

"De la Bouche a l'Oreille" is hidden in a passage way adjacent to Oceania Hotel. Great selection of local wines from Auvergne, nice decor with paintings on the wall. Had never tasted a "truffade" before so this is the dish I chose tho' the carte also offered "ris de veau", i.e. veal sweetbread, and pied de porc désossés (de-boned pigs trotters), both dishes I tend to enjoy. "Truffade" is basically a potato gratin mixed with "tome" cheese. Would recommend ordering it plain rather than with ham and salad which kill the subtle taste of the cheese. With our dish, we ordered the chef's selection of 3 wines from Auvergne. First one was a pleasant white Chardonay, 2nd one was a really good mix of G...
