This stunning restaurant must be the best in Penzance. A tasting menu based on seafood shows the talents of an excellent cook. Service is excellent and if you are a wine lover, then a wine flight suits another wine to any course. Booking essential. Very recommended.

This was one of the most magical evenings I’ve ever had. What has been created by Bruce is an evening where you get to share his passion for exquisite local ingredients combined into beautiful plates of food. This is not just about eating great dishes but an experience like nothing else. The restaurant is intimate, with only 14 covers, which just adds to the specialness of the night.

A very special restaurant with all dishes using different fishes and cooking styles. The chef will have a brief introduction on his cooking philosophy at the start and then would briefly describe each dish before serving. Hidden gem in the southwest England. So glad we came. We had the 7 courses tasting menu. It was absolutely amazing experience with highlight followed by another highlight. The food has complex layers of different flavour and texture, with influence from various cultures..Japanese, Chinese, Indian, South American, yet surprisingly beautifully blended together. My personal favourite is the strawberry desert with basil sorbet..impressive piece of art. Thank you Bruce!

An absolute must if you're in the area (or not! love seafood, east asian food and a truly passionate chef. Unlike anywhere we've eaten before, and all the better for it. The wine pairing was spot on and we licked our plates clean and that's ok... For us, the very reason we will return to Penzance in the not too distant future. Good heavens. It's hard to find the appropriate superlatives to describe this experience. There are no choices that in itself is rather wonderful. It is a lot of money, but you soon realise that it is not expensive. This is eating at the hand of a chef who's at the top of his game, creating the very best combinations of the very best foods available, and everything is very local. Choose a fabulous bottle of wine. Eat slowly. Savour every mouthful. Then start saving for your next visit. Thank you to the enthusiastic chef Bruce and his excellent assistant. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and we will be back.

Bruce’s tasting menu was the highlight of our 10 day gastronomic tour of Devon and Cornwall. For someone who claims never to have visited Japan, his kaiseki menu would do even Endo proud. His interpretation of chawanmushi was sublime with a fresh and crunchy shitake and caviar. Superb fish fresh from the quay and the locally grown vegetables were delicious. Even the shiso tasted like shiso tastes in Japan, a remarkable achievement given that shiso in UK is generally bland and disappointing. Three things to bear in mind: 1) try to show up at 6.45pm to get the best tables. I had dinner at The Shore Restaurant this past Thursday. It was truly an outstanding dining experience!! Beautiful restaurant simple and clean ambience with limited seating provides a comfortable and very pleasurable experience. The owner/chef Bruce Rennie warmly comes to great every table (yes, barefoot). As for the food, everything from the freshness, the flavours, the presentation and the wine pairings were absolutely superb! As a trained chef myself, eating in any restaurant is a bit of a challenge as I'm constantly looking for faults and missed bits. The Shore does not disappoint! Every single course was presented well and carefully explained by the team. The cook on every dish was perfect and even though my girlfriend is a pescetarian we were graciously catered for by the team and one of the courses was adapted for her dietary requirements.
