"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

Just had a cup of coffee with my wife here. Lovely, quiet atmosphere. Cheap and tasty coffee. Would recommend.

Lovely little boutique hotel restaurant. Polite staff and very nice rooms. Stayed a couple of times now. Good location to as walking distance to most decent pubs and restaurants.

The accommodation was pleasant, the staff were friendly and allowed us to park in a reserved space. Our room was clean and nicely presented but was near the restaurant so there was little noise late at night when we returned. Breakfast was included in the room rate, and was fairly nice.

Went here for a fabulous family meal recently. Complex dietary requirements perfectly catered to, the staff were friendly helpful and the food was delicious. It was a special occasion to honour some dearly missed family members who had celebrated significant birthdays etc here and it really was the perfect evening. Thanks to all the team at the L&P!

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and it’s really cute. The staff were also nice. We had a room on the high street and I was still able to sleep which was great. The breakfast was also spectacular! The 4 star are because of the room being quite basic mirror and plug (for hair styling) was in a awkward corner. The cleaning service was also poor not more than 5 minutes went into making our room (just made the bed and cleaned the shower). Floors were left dirty. Overall I would recommend it but make sure you don’t get a room on the ground floor near the parking (my friend got one and she wasn’t impressed) Speisekarte ansehen

Ask for a room in the back, if you are in the front the road/cars noise is on all the time and will disturb your sleep (the ear plugs help, but your ears will hurt in the morning . If no rooms in the back, choose a different hotel as a lack of sleep is not fun. The hotel itself is lovely. Charmingly old school. The rooms are good size, the beds are firm and comfortable. The shower water flow is only ok. There are complimentary biscuits in the room (yum! . The breakfast is excellent, eggs in every shape and flavor, in addition to continental choices. There is a bar and nice restaurant at the hotel as well.

We stayed 2 nights for our wedding and have mixed feelings about this hotel. The hotel is beautiful and we loved the rabbit warren feeling and up and down floors. The bar area is nicely decorated although we didn't use it. Our biggest issue was with noise and light. On the first night, it was really warm so we had to open the windows, unfortunately, our first-floor room was in the front of the building next to the noisy road with traffic although the night. The other issue was a street light which lit up the room and as the curtains didn't close properly and the blind cover enough of the window it was bright all night long. On the second night, we decided to use the supplied fan instead of o...

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
