"overall a bad experience and unfortunately not the first. Once we have been here and wait for an hour, between the end of our starter and waiting for our main decision we decided to give him another. I wish we hadn't! first, the restaurant was cold. there. no heating seemed to be and a person on our table even felt the need to hold their coat all over. when it came to order, we were very disappointed that the options from the menu were limited with hardly anything “left”, I would not expect that for a 7pm table and a practically empty restaurant. the fact that it was essentially only 2 appetizers to choose, with a specials option (which turned out to be open bland and tasteless) was terrible. there were no fish dishes to decide for the net were only the choice of two overpriced steaks or a burger! dessert choices were also very bad. we tried to make the best of the bad situation, but our bill came just under £200, which absolutely shocking for such bad food choices and quality of food when served. against the end of our booking the employees cleaned up, muted and corded down the sitting areas near us, as if they wanted us to go, as they wanted home! it is far away that we want to order additional drinks, so we ask for the bill. the only positive experience of our evening was the waitress, a young girl. although initially very nervous and chaotic she was a pleasant girl. After we have received the restaurant without reply or confirmation by e-mail, we will not return, nor will we recommend to others."

A great place for a fun night out. Very busy but the staff coped well and were attentive. We enjoyed most of the sharing plates that we had especially the focaccia, it was to die for!

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Torquay is lacking in decent restaurants but this ticks all the boxes. Maisie front of house is fantastic, so welcoming and smiley and knows her wine, shes running a great team. Highly recommend

We’ve been to Wellies a few times since lockdown ended and it’s fast becoming a favourite. The food is always excellent, but the hospitality provided by Maisie and her team is the real selling point; everyone is greeted with a smile and nothing is too...much bother. And the margaritas are EXCELLENT!

We celebrated my wife’s birthday at Wellies last week. There was a group of 20 of us, service was excellent, food was hot and tasty, we were well looked after all evening by the whole team. Maisy dealt with our party booking from the start...and was organised and professional. We really enjoyed and would highly recommend.

booked Sunday dinner for 4 people for birthday party. I went to the restaurant and it was all closed with a handwriting sign saying: closed! restaurant had both my email and mobile number for booking, but there was no contact made to recommend that they would actually be closed. I understand that circumstances arise, but basic customer service to the customers they confirmed booking with

my partner and I visited wellies for the first time, maisy was very welcoming and friendly, nothing seemed too disturbing, she was very informative on the menu and the specials to help us decide what we want. everything we have ordered has been cooked to a high standard and full of taste and the fish tasted extremely fresh the restaurant has a very good atmosphere and is lifted off by its employees.

As another guest had written in his review we are also residents of Wellswood and took the opportunity to try this restaurant the first time. What a disappointment. The quality of the food was far below average. The prices however are far beyond average. As...an example 28 Pound for a sirloin steak which was tough and full of tendons. Chips which were dark brown fried and over salted. It's not a good place to be. Furthermore the loudness of the music was unacceptable.
