"We arrived at 12:00 on a Tuesday in early July got the last available table hadn’t thought to book as we didn’t expect it to be that busy. Delightful waitresses who couldn’t be more helpful. There was a party of 12 ordering when we got there good entertainment as they were not very organised we felt so sorry for the waiter ! The food was delicious burger frites salade Italienne. All the food looked good the three course menu du jour had an excellent choice for only 18 euros. With our food, two glasses of wine two coffees, the bill was less than 40 euros. We would definitely go back but would certainly book the next time."

"Evening at the restaurant then night at the hotel with breakfast The restaurant is very good but not as exceptional as it was expected for a star, especially since there were some faults of service and cooking... The hotel is very pleasant and the superb room but the price for a night is clearly excessive. As for breakfast in a starred restaurant... Very disappointing: truite barely presented, not prepared, orange juice in bottle ... A first to have a breakfast in a hotel of this type without pressing an orange. The setting and the terrace catch up with this breakfast clearly not at the height of the place. In summary it was a first, it was nice but no more!"

"I have been visiting France for 15 years now and have mostly found the food to be of very high standard. However my recent visit to this restaurant was the worst experience so far. The pate starter was as thin as paper and tasteless the accompanying salad which was a soggy mass of lettuce was equally poor. I was hoping the steak would improve the disappointment of my starter. Unfortunately not. This was terrible again full of fat that was not even edible and it was served with potatoes lacking in any taste whatsoever. I`m not a big veg eater and was surprised to see not one vegetable served with my meal. The tiramisu was slightly above average if you like the runny concoction and not something I have eaten before but it was ok. Certainly not a place I would visit again."

"The manager is in a state of breath, but despite all, he is grappling with the lack of staff. We were served quickly, the dishes were good at correct prices. Too bad that the customer is no more grateful for the work done by a single person, we are not kings! getting rid of the table is cheap"

"We were very badly received by the boss, who while we were fourteen for coffee and drinks, asked us, in order not to move its tables on the terrace, to separate us into several tables.(super conviviale)not merchant of all this lady, nor smiling. fortunately that the super waitress welcomed us much better; Smiling, kind, merchant, she has done everything to serve us at a common table. MERCI has this young lady. without her, we would have gone somewhere else."

"I have now enjoyed 3 meals at Cote Riviere and can honestly say it is some of the best food and one of the warmest receptions I have had whilst holidaying in France. We first came across the restaurant whilst viewing wedding venues in the area back in March 2016. Dining at Cote Riviere and also seeing the beautiful town of Brantome convinced us that this was the region in which we wanted to celebrate our wedding. We then returned this summer, the first occasion David and Fabienne helped us host a birthday dinner for my father which also acted as a welcome dinner before the wedding the following day in Vieux-Mareuil. This was for 21 people and we all throughly enjoyed a starter and main course as well as the wine. My father was also brought a special plate of mini desserts as a surprise for his birthday which was a lovely touch. Following the wedding we returned to the restaurant to enjoy lunch with some friends and again the food was excellent, the majority of the party enjoyed the green fish curry which was amazing, I had the gourmet salad which showcased a lot of local delicacies and was again excellent, as well as some more fabulous wine. I look forward to returning to Cote Riviere in the years to come as we revisit the region."

"We have lunch Sunday, August 13... perfect meal. Perfect welcome. Couac at the time of payment, a note at 51 euros 70. I give a 50 note and look for the change, the cashing person asks me 50 euros. It's safe to have given it I protest... and still give a ticket... it's a word against word but after I have recounted in my wallet I miss a ticket. Everyone can be mistaken and I the first but in doubt recount the currency before leaving...."

"this small restaurant, (by the number of seating places), located away from the shops and the tourist center, offers a room, (where the blue dominates), pleasant with mood music. We choose 2 leffe pressure at 4€ in aperitif(, the homemade tapnade is its crusts have been offered). After consulting the menu, we choose 2 menus at 20 €, (the choice is between fried mussels, à la carte dishes and a menu at 25 €). In the entrance a salad of gizzards, deglazed with raspberry vinegar, and its homemade crusts.In flat, a canard and lamb chops for Madame, with apples to the sarladaise and its pieces of ceps, accompanied by a quarter of red wine shepherdac at 4 €. Delicious.The country bread, crispy served in tanche has been appreciated, as well as home desserts.A good welcome and fast service, the next time we will test the menu at 25 € that offers a greater choice of dishes."
