"We made a reservation for 8 people for lunch at this restaurant. The menu was extensive with a specials board as well. Each dish we ordered was well-presented, incredibly appetizing, and tasted delicious. The homemade desserts we ordered were large and did not disappoint in flavor. The staff was very accommodating and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant for its warm welcome, cleanliness, and great value for money."

"Upon arriving at the traditional, family-friendly pub, we were impressed by the lively atmosphere (with TVs showing live sports, a dart board, and live music) and the friendly staff. We received a warm welcome and found the pub to be tastefully decorated. It was packed with customers, but still very clean. My partner and I decided to have a three-course meal, while our young son just had the main course. I ordered garlic mushrooms for starters, chicken and stuffing roast dinner for my main, and cheesecake for dessert. My partner had fish cake for starters, beef dinner for main, and apple crumble with custard for dessert. Our son had the chicken dinner for his main course but also sampled our starters and desserts. The roast dinners were fantastic, served with a variety of vegetables, roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding, homemade gravy, and a selection of sauces. The food was delicious and great value for money. We will definitely be returning, as the menu had a wide range of options including vegetarian and children's meals, as well as steaks, burgers, mixed grills, curries, and more."

"It was a pleasant surprise to see more staff serving during our recent visit, which greatly improved the speed and ease of ordering. The staff were efficient in taking our food and drink orders promptly. However, the food did not meet our expectations based on previous experiences. The steak meal was quite basic and did not justify the premium price. We were disappointed to find that there was no children's menu, and the option to supplement a child's meal with a smaller main dish was overpriced at £12.00 for fish and chips. Additionally, the temperature in the restaurant was uncomfortably cold, as the massive open fire was not lit. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this pub. It is disappointing as we have been loyal customers for many years and previously found it to be good value for money."

"Oh dear. What a shame. When we first sat down the waiter was brusque. He obviously found our party of eight, which included one child, and one vegan, pretty tiresome. We had called ahead to check that the restaurant offered vegan options, but there were none on the menu. Our guest was advised to order cauliflower (hold the cheese or put together her own dinner from sides. We asked if the chef could suggest a vegan meal (the restaurant was mostly empty at 6;15 so we didn't feel it was too much of an imposition ...the answer was..order sides ...the sides were fairly uninspiring (potatoes, carrots, plain greens so our vegan guest and her child left. And then there were six... We ordered fish and one order of pork. The waiter got the order wrong and brought multiple orders of pork ..so one of our guests ate alone, while the others waited for their food (to be fair, the other server, a lovely waitress, did offer to return that meal and bring all the food at the same time, but our guest was hungry and needed to eat. . The waiter did not apologize and he continued to ignore us for most of the evening. Perhaps chastened by his mistakes, he took orders at the tables around us, shouting them back to customers at full volume. The lovely romantic setting lost its lustre in the face of his boorishness. There were three servers working that evening and I need to point out that the two other waitresses were very solicitous and extremely accommodating. I got the impression they had been hired to compensate for his gruff ineptitude. The sea bass and pork were both delicious. Perfectly cooked. The sides were very good. Would certainly recommend the food, and the setting but the whole experience was marred by one very rude waiter."

"Hello, typically the food is outstanding, but this time I have to admit, the lamb was extremely tough and there were no scallops or mustard, which was disappointing. The waitress was lovely and fabulous, but it's a shame the food didn't meet our expectations. It's the first time we've been let down, but we still love the restaurant - it's beautiful."

"Went today for Sunday lunch (3 course £26.95p). Both starters were alright then came a Very large roast dinner of which we only managed half. The beef was tender and a generous helping of vegetables but they were sprinkled with different herbs.i.e parsley on carrots and cauliflower cheese, rosemary on the roast potatoes making too many tastes which did not compliment each other. The service was slow but we thought that was on purpose for a leisurely meal.....BUT the fact was that they had taken their eye off the ball after serving the main course. We waited a long time before the table was cleared and they asked for the dessert choice. We were told that we could have dessert as takeaway if we were too full.....which we decided to do... after ordering it took 25+ mins for the server to appear with the two desserts (lemon tart with cream and proprietors and chocolate sauce) on their plates....we reminded her that we ordered them to go and she said she would box them for us. Another 15 minutes later she came with the two boxes which l did not open and left the Restaurant. In arriving home ....one box contained a hard, dry brownie (which was not ordered) and the other four small profriteroles with no chocolate. Both desserts were inedible......whoever boxed them up needs more quality control training. This lunch turned out to be quite expensive for the 3 course lunch that turned out to be 2 courses."

"Basic room for decent price of £45 for 2 adults. Wasn't told it was two single beds when booked a room for two, there was 3 various preused shower gel bottles available, there wasn't any fresh toiletries, and bin was half filled with rubbish upon arrival too.... but customer service was friendly n very helpful, and staff upon arrival were welcoming too. Beds were clean and comfy (woth quilts, not sheets) plus we was supplied with 4 clean soft towels and ample overnight storage which included quality wooden hangers. No smoking in room, but cute outside smoking area easily accessible (although the light sensor could do with a wipe so it can recognise movement before people need to use steps to get to seating). Need to be able to climb stairs to get to either of the two rooms, which wasn't told about first (though they wasn't informed I had physical disability or I'm sure they would of told me before taking booking) Didn't need to pay until morning after stay and it was a shame we didn't have time to have breakfast for only a fiver extra per person. Bar downstairs appeared to be clean and welcoming, although we was not there during opening hours to experience it for ourselves. Overall, a good n clean n safe value for money overnight stay, and will probably use again soon if allowed to put single beds together or be given an actual double bed"

"Been here before but after what I just witnessed I will never go there again!! After my daughter being told she couldn't swap her beans egg AND mushrooms for an extra slice of bacon would have to pay extra) and my neice being told she couldnt swap her mushrooms for a slice of black pudding she would have to pay extra) but also some elderly gentleman was ganged up on and totally intimated by THREE of the staff in a full cafe) all because they said he asked for beans and not Tomatos and if he wanted to change it he would have to pay for an EXTRA breakfast, the elderly man got very embarrassed and went red in the face whilst he quietly explained that he doesn't like beans so he wouldn't have asked for them, they continued to RANT at him saying he asked for beans. I was absolutely disgusted that this elderly man then asked for his money back witch they RELUCTANTLY give and continued to slag him off to other customers when he had left..All this over changing beans to Tomatos. ..I have never ever seen such bad customer service in my life...whatever happened to the customer being right??? They come across as lovely girls as long as you don't ask them for extra or get it wrong THEN you see a completely different side. You should be ashamed of yourselfs!!!!"

"Arrived on Monday evening on a rainy night. Not very inviting to see scaffolding up and lots of pot holes in car park. Was a little dubious about going in. Still went to see what it was like. Scruffy little place with old fashioned seats and all tables set up for food. Asked the bar maid about food she asked us to sit at a table and i will bring menus over. Lots of choice as well as on board specials.We decided to give it a chance as been told food was good. Went to bar to order martini and lemonade and lime and soda. Lemonade came from a large 2 litre bottle which was last drop which was flat. Ordered sweet and sour chicken and rice, plus gammon and salad. Waited about 20 mins. food served on cold plates. My salad was piled high but had loads of peppers on, cold peas. The sweet and sour chicken was cooked chicken added into a very weak strange tasting sauce.Not very nice at all. The menu advertised desserts but the pictures were cut out puds from some paper or magazine not very inviting. There seem to be very little recent comments about this pub. Yes of course after ordering our food was told only take cash. Signs not very prominent and not told when ordering. Surely all places take cards these days. You really should get a little more up to date with everything to get more customers. Will not be back again."
