"I'm sorry to say how disappointed with my visit today to the coffee nut. I order a chicken panni with mayonnaise. The chicken wasn't chicken breast or even roast chicken but one slice of a chicken slice that you buy in the local supermarket for packed lunches. I was served my panni on a white napkin on a white plate with a small serving of mayo in a white dish. No garnish, not a bit of lettuce or a cherry tomato to give the plate a bit of colour to at least make it look like I wanted to eat it. It tasted of cardboard and a waste of €6.00. I could of had gone in the subway just across the road but I choose to give my custome to a local business which I like to do but wish I hadn't in this case"

"We visited the Waverley Inn this past Sunday for a family dinner, there were 6 children and 3 adults. Several of us had roasts, and a few of the kids had the kids menu meal. I have to say, every single thing was sooooo tasty. I had gammon, which was the nicest gammon I've ever eaten, my partner had the lamb which was also delicious, the kids meals were tasty too and priced at an appropriate level. The service was perfect, from the friendly and helpful bar staff to the lovely chef who chatted to us about their method for preparing the gammon, and who was also happy to help us at the table, he was amazing! Finally, the puddings were also really nice and there were quite a few to choose from, I had a delicious rhubarb crumble! All in all, I can't wait to go back and would heartily recommend visiting!"

"Wow, the food at this restaurant is fantastic and the couple who runs it is lovely. They have a wide selection of drinks and food on the menu, and their pairing suggestions are spot on. I usually don't have trouble deciding what to order, but there were so many options I wanted to try that it was tough to choose just one. The same goes for the dessert menu - so many tempting options!"

"This restaurant is absolutely fantastic for a meal, a cup of coffee and cake, or simply to meet some lovely people for a chat. The menu is very diverse, offering delicious breakfasts, main courses, desserts, sandwiches, baked potatoes, and more. They serve fresh food and are licensed. The two girls who run the restaurant work incredibly hard alongside their family. The restaurant is located right on the beach between Yarmouth and Fort Victoria, providing a stunning backdrop. It is very dog-friendly both inside and outside, and there is a lovely fire to enjoy during the colder months. The service is prompt and efficient, and the Sunday roasts are delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"Discovered this restaurant after reading other reviews, rang up to book a table was delighted when they said yes, they had availability for the same evening. When we arrived it was just us and another table, but it filled up as the evening went on. My husband had the Steak Ale pie I had the lasagna. Both meals were delicious decent portion sizes. We couldn’t resist pudding, my husband had the brownie I had the bread butter pudding which was served with an extra jug of custard. Both again were delicious. The staff were lovely kept checking if we were ok for drinks. Our bill was just under £45 for 2 mains, 2 puddings 2 drinks which we thought was great for a meal of that quality quantity. Definitely recommend!"

"A real find! A comfortable and really friendly country inn with cosy rooms, a drying room (ideal for walkers), and an extensive bar and dining area looking out onto attractive gardens and with a roaring open fire. The food’s excellent and very good value, with lots of choice on the menu including at least half a dozen tasty vegetarian options and a couple of unusual ones (eg a large mushroom dhal). Good choice of real ales too. And it’s great to stay somewhere where’s a family playing scrabble st one table, two couples playing darts round the corner, two grey-haired guitarists tuning up one evening, and lots of couples focussed intently on each other. Minor gripe that there’s not much fresh fruit for breakfast, but there are lots of cooked options and they do have fresh croissants daily. We’ve already agreed we’re coming back!"

"Firstly, the pub itself was delightful an absolute warren of different spaces. Loo was spotless like the pub itself, eclectic in taste. Food was first class Yorkshire puds were outstanding, I’d go so far as to say the best I’ve had. Cauliflower cheese was gorgeous, plentiful meat veg nicely cooked. Now for the bits not so good; service was shambolic. We were asked 3 times by different waitresses if all was well. The fact they had a mechanical fault meaning orders didn’t get to kitchen is neither here nor there, but after 50minutes we asked on the foods arrival we were told of the issue. It could should have been handled much better. Plates etc were left on tables for new guests to sit down to. Desserts were a mixed bunch, pavlova was lovely but the crumble was not a crumble no crumble topping but a muesli type topping. Would I return? Possibly."

"On arrival we felt like it was issue that our 85 year old mum had a walker to aid her walking. The owner/head of house was rude about it, asked if the step was an issue for us. The young waitress was very friendly but was obviously struggling with a cold and kept on sniffing. Food was nice, but the main came out very quickly after the starter.. not great on the welcome or being made to feel welcome. Like not being local was an issue. Wheelchair accessibility: Very poor, no wheelchair, but my 85 yr old mother in law was made to feel embarrassed as she has a walker. We were asked if it could be folded away and asked if they could put it elsewhere, like it being in the restaurant was an issue."

"Our cottage owners where we were staying at Byre Cottage Mandy and David recommended Woods Kitchen. They had left a lovely hamper in our cottage for us upon arrival from Woods Kitchen which included scones, jams, and fresh foccoci bread/ half an artisan loaf.Managed to book in for a Friday night at Lovely welcome from the team and we were seated towards the rear of the venue facing the garden and huge double patio doors. Lovely ambience...fairly lights and new vintage decor.My Dad and I are coeliac and there was a fantastic selection of meals that could be adapted. Our girls aged and made friends with the table next to us. Our dog was welcomed and he was a good boy under our table.Food ....huge portions quality food. Good value for money. My husband had the ribs and was given huge racks. I had the vegan curry. Am not vegan but fancied the butternut quash and aubergine curry. I was given a good thick slice of GF bread and rice accompanying it. Didnt need the new potatoes in it too. I would have made up with added chicken in there!! Mum had the halloumi burger and the kids burgers too. Fantastic thick fresh and hot chips. My Dad had the chicken. We both were able to have a pudding. Apple Crumble. Very yummy. Well worth the money spent. for of us. adults and two children. My husband had the knicker blocker glory....I would say this was the only thing that was a little disappointing....because it was basically a can of fruit cocktail upended in his sundae dish with two scoops of icecream and a tonne of swirly cream. Our girls wanted the brownie but it was all gone so they were substituted with a cupcake from their front of house chilled cabinet which wasn't a bad thing! It was just abit cold rather than room temp.Thank you for having us. We really enjoyed our meal on our last night. We enjoyed the hamper left for us in our cottage. Godshill is a beautiful village."

"This cafe is a great spot with a unique decor. My brother, who is a vegetarian, was pleased with the options available to him - he simply asked for what he wanted. The service was excellent, and we had a delicious breakfast meal. The prices were very reasonable, ranging from £1-10 per person. The food, service, and atmosphere all scored a perfect 5. I would somewhat recommend this place for vegetarians, as the offerings may not be extensive."

"This restaurant is dog-friendly and offers delicious food, as well as a selection of guest ciders and Isle of Wight ales. The ambiance is welcoming with a garden at the back. The meals are reasonably priced and of good quality. The tagliatelle was rich and flavorful, while the sausage sandwich at lunchtime was excellent. The homemade pies were generously filled with beef, although the pastry was slightly overcooked. The fishcakes were decent but not particularly Thai in flavor. The chips were outstanding, and everything was freshly prepared. The beer and cider selection is limited to Razorback, Greene King IPA, and Inches cider. The staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, a charming place worth visiting."

"my wife and I cried out here on a spectacle and found a jewel. Although no menu was displayed outside, we were displayed without obligation a menu. we received a warm greeting from james and he quickly explained the food order process. our first choice...of eating was not available, but alternatives were offered quickly. there was a good choice of drinks, including local beers at the entrance. the portions are very good when they order the big nachos as starter, make sure they are hungry! the presentation of the food was excellent and it was all hot (except the salad). I had the special fish cake that came with a baguette that was heated by an excellent note. our server has verified that everything is in order with eating and I noticed that he went all the time around the restaurant to make sure that the other customers were happy and clean and thoroughly clean tables very quickly after they were released. all in all an excellent evening meal and atmosphere. best wishes to the whole team, also behind the scenes kitchen staff. thank you andrew and jill"

"Couldn’t book for Valentines, so we had our special night early this year. We had our first ‘date’ at The Duck a few years back and it seemed appropriate to celebrate our time together. We both had fabulous meals. Service and atmosphere were great. I had the Duck Confit Burger, which was excellent. My partner enjoyed the Chicken Schnitzel. "Have visited a number of times now with family and friends. Excellent food again. We had a selection of tapas including calamari, croquettes, garlic prawns, pork belly and bacon and feta salad followed by lamp chops and fries. Some of the party has desserts including crème brûlée and deconstructed cheesecake. Everything was cooked beautifully and served in a timely manner. We sat outside at the back and although it was evening time, due to the shelter we were comfortable and warm enough. Can’t recommend highly enough."

"the best afternoon on the isle of wight is and is still! we came and were quickly seen to our table, all booked for our family including grandparents and our 3 years old. all very happy and welcoming as soon as we thought, I loved the red rope to keep us almost like a red carpet on the door. the rooms are all beautifully furnished with old teekanistern, courts etc. not a dust in itself, so there is much love for the device! we all had the “Victoria afternoon tea”... wow every animal was faultless! the sandwiches were all beautiful and fresh! by no means on the quality of the ingredients! the victoria sponge cake was the best, yes the best! I have ever tasted! so light and tasty! the tee is a speciality for the tee room in it own tee bag (not shop here bought and they can cut the difference in the fresh tee they choose beautiful! Finally the scones served warm, perfect even, easy to cut through, optional butter and beautiful cream and jam. What can they ask for more? was the perfect afternoon tea room with the perfect cup of tea! I will certainly be back and will recommend to everyone, families, couples or other small groups to go there! I would recommend before booking. after our afternoon (and a fast looting place we visited the fairytale garden! so beautiful to see and so much love and carefree has gone into her! Our 3yr old daughter loved it! so a beautiful magical touch."

"After we read reviews, we thought this was the place for fish and chips. it's not. the warning signs were there – you could not even see the friteer or the fish and chip counter. essentially this is a caffe with cafe-style eating - not right. fish and chips. we ordered fish and chips x2 and sat on a bank to look over the sea, in the ground eating over boiled broken fish - clearly not caught locally and of chips deep fat broken- non-traditional chips. very disappointing lunch with a view of the sea."

"We stopped by this restaurant on our way home from The Needles. Despite the disappointing weather, we were greeted warmly upon entering. We enjoyed a lovely family dinner with fast service and delicious, freshly made food. Although my children were tired and didn't want to eat, the staff were friendly and made the meal enjoyable for my little boy, who loved his sausage bap. The burger was fantastic, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that we could order alcohol as well, allowing me to enjoy a glass of wine with my meal. It was a nice touch to end a great day. I highly recommend this restaurant!"
