"Stopped of at Mont Louis while taking a trip on Le Train Jaune. It was lunchtime and along with fellow passengers, we headed for the first restaurant we saw which was Le Clos Cerdan. Granted there was a slight influx of hungry clients all at...the same time, but this this seemed to put the main waiter under pressure who ranted a little when, after a significant wait, I asked for the menus he had just taken from our neigbouring diners. It is not possible to serve everyone when they come in together I was told. I only asked for the menus that he had in his hand! Unfortunately this seemed to set the tone for the remainder of the meal. one minor requested escargots and was told it was 'too spicy ' for children, though they had it elsewhere before. 2 scoops of ice cream were ordered but we were informed one only came with the menu, despite saying we would pay for the extra scoop! The food was okay and the menu option (3 courses) good value. The starter of baked goat 's cheese in filo pastry was the best part of the meal. The steak looked grisly on the plate but was tender enough. I would gladly return to Mont Louis but next time, I will keep going towards the citadel and have something to eat at one of the cafes there."
