"We sort of stumbled into this restaurant on a Sunday...we were planning to go to the place right next door for a pizza and a salad, but somehow got confused. Since we were late for lunch (at least in this part of the world), by...the time we discovered our mistake we had already asked the waitress if the kitchen would serve us, and were already sitting down outside at a nice shaded table. We were glad we did. At this late hour (1:45pm) there was basically only one choice, the menu for €36, so while we had been planning a lighter lunch, we plowed ahead. Our entrée was a plate of spectacular cured ham, about a half dozen slices of foie gras, some paté with garlic, cornichons, bread, etc. We could have stopped right there. But we were glad we didn't. The main course was magret de canard with roast potatoes and cold ratatouille. The magret was the best I have ever eaten. And there was a lot of it. than the two of us could manage. This was obviously the place to be on a sunny October Sunday. Oh yes...the restaurant is on the quite lovely Place Royale in the town of Labastide d'Armagnac. You can drive a car though the Place, but there is no parking (parking is 50 meters away on the outskirts of town) so it is quiet and peaceful. We stumbled upon it while bicycling in the area."
