"We came here for our last meal in Lille before departing on Eurostar. We are so glad we did. Fortunately for us as it was prior to Christmas La Terrasse was open on a Sunday. La Terrasse is fairly compact but has a rustic décor, with wooden tables, bar and large windows at the front. We arrived about 12.30 the place was empty but was warmly greeted by the barman. There was good banter between him and the chef. We had a couple of beers and perused the menus that are written on blackboards throughout the restaurant. A fairly small menu but this is by no way a complaint. Apparently on a Saturday they do burgers, but as it was a Sunday we had the choice of about 3 or 4 starters, mains and desserts. The wine list again is fairly short, but I had a delicious very easy to drink white wine by the glass and my husband enjoyed his red served in 46 cl. The wine is a bit pricy, but I thought worth it. For starter I had the half of camembert roti served with cranberry and bread which was great. My husband had a superb terrine, which I tasted and would order when visiting again. For mains, I had the scallop risotto. Would gladly eat this every day! Full of flavour, creamy with sweet smoky scallops. My husband had the onglet (feather steak) which came with homemade chips – the best we had in Lille and onions sautéed in red wine. The steak was tender and melted in the mouth, the chips really were fantastic and freshly made and crispy. Perhaps the only criticism was that with the salad and onions there was too much food on the plate! I had dessert of crème brulee, which was everything you could want. Prices are competitive for the quality and portion size. As you would expect my scallop dish was a little more expensive at 21 euros, but worth every penny. The whole meal took a leisurely 2 hours and was paced just right. The barman spoke great English and was extremely professional. As time went on more and more people arrived. I can imagine at peak times this place is heaving with a great atmosphere. Will definitely return on my next trip to Lille."
