"My wife and I came here for lunch the weekend just passed. We had Eurostar loyalty points to spend, I hadn’t been to Lille so thought why don’t we go for lunch – because, well why not. So then we needed someone perfect for lunch! We spent a lot of time researching, forums, TA reviews etc. and decided to go with Rouge Barre – it had good reviews, the restaurant looked comfortable and not too formal, and whilst there was no menu on line, pictures on TA looked good and the chef was on Top Chef, so we took a leap of faith – and wow are we glad we did. What an incredible restaurant. The restaurant itself feels like it’s in a slightly more secluded, but perhaps more trendy / hipster part of Lille – lovely art gallery just around the corner, and cafés etc on the approach. We sat upstairs on the outside terrace which was lovely, and the restaurant itself inside has been decorated very nicely, airy and light to create a comfortable dining experience. There was no menu as such, our waitress said there was a 3 course option or a 9 course tasting menu. We choose the 3 course, and when I told them I didn’t eat fish, they immediately accommodated my preference on the 3 course menu with no fuss. In the event, the 3 course menu turned into a 6 course menu with amuse-bouche etc. and every course was exquisite. I’ve been fortunate enough to have eaten in some good restaurants around the world with my work, but this restaurant easily tops some of the meals I’ve had by other well-known chefs. The food was well proportioned, portions were just the right size, flavours worked well together, and the quality of the ingredients was excellent. On top of that the value for money was outstanding - we had two 3 course menus, champagne, water and soft drinks, with tip was less than €100!!!I won’t give details of the courses as they change constantly, but this place is superb and if anyone is looking for that one good meal in Lille this is the place to go. I’d return just for this place again! How this place doesn’t gave a Michelin star is beyond me. It deserves one."

"Weekendje Rijsel om de overgang naar 2017 te vieren. Op voorhand reservatie gemaakt. De gegevens over de menu liet zeer lang op zich wachten. We kenden het restaurant niet, in de toppertjes van restaurants moet je voor oudejaar vroeg op voorhand boeken, dus vonden we het belangrijk te weten wat we gingen eten. We spreken namelijk ook over €100 per persoon. Een voorschot werd betaald. Het eten is lekker, maar we zijn totaal niet te spreken over de service. De verschillende gerechten kwamen snel op mekaar, er tijd tussen voorzien was niet mogelijk. De tafel naast ons had wat extra pauze gevraagd, gevolg: kregen de volgende gang als laatste en dan opnieuw alles op mekaar. De borden van de gang die ze op hadden, bleven drie kwartier voor hun neus staan. Akkoord dat schuiven met tafels in de keuken voor problemen kan zorgen, maar ik denk dat een menu in een restaurant van 30 personen geen problemen in de keuken mag geven. Zelf vroegen we een extra glas wijn. Dit was volgens de dienster niet mogelijk, met handen en voeten hebben moeten uitleggen dat we extra fles/glas met plezier wilden betalen en er dus op stonden dat we wijn bij ons eten hadden (genoeg wijn). Bij de afrekening vonden ze nergens terug dat ik voorschot van €100 betaald had??? Niettemin had iedereen van het restaurant dit moeten doen, want dit was de bevestiging van de reservatie. Ons zien ze alvast niet meer terug en het groepje Vlamingen die naast ons zat ook niet...."

"a marvel, just that. just perfect you will not find better elsewhere in the lille region. i can tell you that i am extremely demanding when it comes to asian cuisine in general, cooking myself among others French Japanese vietnamese ... my command : 1 nem 1 lemongrass chicken with sautéed noodles 1 sautéed rice with chicken on the packaging side: aluminum boxes with well closed cardboard lids. clean, without sauce having stained the lid which would have been quite normal by the way. a set of chopsticks, a nice little plastic fork, a set of paper napkins. the spring roll which generously turned into 2 spring rolls was in its small plastic coated transparent box. despite the piercing cold outside, everything arrived hot, as if i had been there. the rice was on the verge of scorching . i discovered a few small pieces of hot tomato and pineapple arranged in the bottom, helping to pleasantly flavor the rice and keep it warm. logistics side: a delivery man of 5 quality. fast, efficient, like the couriers in paris. i am a big consumer of food delivery, this is the first time that i have this type of delivery person. here too, i suspected that the delivery man was chosen specifically. i don 't think so, or would chance have done it right? mystery. i have never been so satisfied with a delivery side dishes: spring rolls pork : fresh, fine, with an incredible roundness of taste. it 's neat and precise, it doesn't stick out a bit. a pizza lover will tend to order a queen to test an establishment, i do the same with spring rolls in general. an aluminum foil wrapping present in the bag comes with several extremely fresh salad mint leaves: to note again, the salad leaves are immaculate, regular, crunchy very rare even on site for some establishments. we immediately feel that it is square and that attention is paid to every detail. lemongrass chicken: quantity and quality, accompanied by sautéed noodles packaged apart from what i really appreciated the noodles are not soaked by a surplus of fatty sauce, you manage your cocks . a lemongrass sauce of a delicacy ... aromatic without being too much, not greasy, at the right thickness and in the perfect quantity. small vegetables cut with a line, fresh and crunchy as it should be. a wonder. fried rice with chicken: a simple dish, and yet .. from memory, topped with fried onions, caramelized onions, chopped small pieces of spring onion coriander? . obviously packed with perfect chicken cocks and plenty. coriander does not cover everything and is controlled. an exquisite dish! 2 small candies gently added to the milk strawberry bag and .. i forgot the other taste , bring a small final sweet note to the puck. we can feel the attention here once again. in shorts, great work. well done to the cook behind the stove, who according to the website has fifteen years of experience behind her. professional work done with taste, and with respect for the customer that is reflected in every detail. the website invites you to try the experience by mentioning with a smile that you will come back: i confirm madam and or gentlemen ladies the owners, i will come back to it via delivery u eats , collection i think that is possible , and hopefully soon there. looking forward, original namaste a marvel, nothing but that. simply: perfect you will not find better elsewhere on the lilloise region. I discovered a few small pieces of tomato and hot pineapples arranged in the background contributing to pleasantly scent the rice and keep it warm. Logistic side: a 5-quality deliverer. fast, efficient, like paris couriers. I'm a big food delivery consumer, this is the first time I have this type of delivery guy. here too, I suspected that the delivery man is specifically chosen.
