"We received a warm welcome and decided to order the Sampi and the fish and chips from the extensive menu. It was a nice touch that they offer half portions, as sometimes you don’t want a large meal in the middle of the day, but we ultimately opted for the full portions!
When the food arrived, I initially thought the Sampi portion seemed a bit small, but everything was well-cooked, including the chips, which were beautifully crisp and tasted fresh, not overcooked. The person with me ordered the fish and chips, which were a decent portion featuring a lovely thin batter and crispy chips. She chose to go with the "inherited" option instead of the "muddy heirs" that she would like to replace.
One small detail I appreciated was the use of a ketchup bottle rather than the tiny packets that are often found in pubs nowadays. Overall, I would highly recommend this pub. It’s a beautiful old building full of character, with a warm welcome and great pub food. There is also a pub garden at the back for outdoor dining."
