"such a beautiful place, can't believe we haven't been here yet. the employees are so inviting and such a wonderful waitress. a bowl of water waited for our dog and the beautiful owner brought a few domestic dog bones for him to chew. a wonderful meal the dover sole was amazing as the pork fillet carving with fried egg and sardelle. started with a cocktail of garnel smoked salmon and some scallops in a red wine jus, the delicious and finished with chocolate pecan tart omg sky on a teller! we will definitely return to the beautiful scutchers soon."

"The Black Lion is a very nice pub with rooms. My room was very comfortable large with a full size bath and seperate shower. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. I only ate breakfasts there as there wasn't enough choice for vegetarians on the dinner menu but the breakfasts were all cooked to order and of very high standard. The Black Lion is at one end of Long Melford and within a few minutes walk of the Holy Trinity Church, Melford Hall and Kentwell Hall. The walk into the main part of town is less than 10 minutes. Hope to stay again. Walkability: Some lovely walks nearby. Even the walk from the hotel to the other end of Long Melford is very pleasant."
