"Started off brilliantly, warm friendly reception and very attentive service. Drinks were prompt and very good and the decor and setting is absolutely lovely. We had the Sunday lunch menu and both had the smoked salmon starter which was beautifully presented and very nice. Then the Sunday roasts arrived and things went south rather quickly. I had the ‘best of both’ with both beef and pork which sadly omitted both apple sauce and stuffing, despite being described as ‘with all the trimmings’. My wife had the roast beef, which bizarrely was served with both apple sauce and the black pudding stuffing from the roast pork option. Clearly whomever was plating up wasn’t very attentive. Whilst the meats and roast potatoes were good, sadly the rest of it was rather tasteless. The vegetables were bland and needed seasoning; both the parsnips and Yorkshire pudding appeared to have been cooked much earlier in the day and then warmed up the Yorkshire pudding in particular was dry and tasteless. Equally, the gravy, whilst plentiful was watery and had no depth of flavour and the cauliflower cheese sauce was not cheesy in the slightest. If I were judging this meal as an average pub roast I’d have given it 3 stars, but bearing in mind both the premium price and the expectation set of ‘Malvern’s finest dining experience’ it certainly wasn’t food wise, so sadly only 2 stars. We can only assume that their Sunday roasts are not reflective of their usual standards and we will return to try a weekday evening meal fingers crossed…"

"We haven 't been our for Sunday lunch for years but as pescatarians we found plenty to suit us on the menu here. My carnivorous parents (in their eighties) on the other hand, eat out regularly and are always keen to critique a roast dinner. They commented as we sat down that The waitress is on the ball, which was a very good sign. Indeed, there were plenty of staff all equally friendly, efficient and helpful. My parents both agreed that their roast beef was beautiful tender, perfectly cooked and plentiful. So much so that Mother wanted to know which butcher it came from, so that she could get some too. My father commented that it was a shame that the beef was piled (albeit very prettily and topped with peashoots) on top of the roast potatoes, which were soggy not crisp. However, the side dish of vegetables looked fabulous and I think that the cauliflower cheese made up for his disappointment. Aside from the roasts, I enjoyed my smoked salmon and feta salad, which was tasty and plentiful. My husband chose the 5 bean chilli with a flatbread (if I remember rightly) and salsa, and a side of salad too and although his meal would have been more practical on a plate than in multiple dishes perched on a narrow wooden board the food was good. We all chose desserts. I had the bread and butter pudding (really indulgent and delicious) and my husband had sorbet. My parents both went for the rum glazed fresh pineapple; Mum 's was very boozy but Dad 's was not so. I paid the bill on my card but left the tip to my parents, knowing they were not expecting me to pay. Unfortunately it turned out that they didn 't have much cash on them, so we mustered a pile of change and far less of a tip than the fabulous team deserved. Sorry about that but we hope that this review will make up for it. We all had a wonderful meal and the service was top notch. We should go out for Sunday lunch more often!"

"We decided on the spur of the moment that we really, really fancied a genuine curry as opposed to the pre packaged ones from the local supermarket. After a bit of Googling we decided on the Vasai and off we went. We arrived at 17.45 pm to an empty restaurant which on a freezing foggy night was no surprise. We were met by a friendly member of staff and sat in a corner and given menus and that was it for around 30 minutes. We kept glancing around to try and catch someone’s eye but to no avail, we latterly decided that perhaps the chef hadn’t turned up as yet. Eventually we managed to order popadoms, pickles and some drinks but no chance to order our mains as the staff simply disappeared again. By this time two other groups of customers had arrived and perhaps also the chef. We ordered and ate, okay but not as good as we were expecting from other reviews on here. Admittedly I did order a rather unusual dish as I was feeling adventurous and felt like a change from a more “standard” curry, in hindsight it is probably stupid to expect a dish with sea bass, prawns, scallops and squid to arrive as the same time as a jalfrezi on a cold winters night but hey ho! So, the experience was rather tarnished by the rather weird intro of sitting in an empty restaurant for what seemed ages before anyone bothered to come over to see what we wanted. Wish it had been better but it wasn’t will try the Everest next time."
