"We have eaten here on a number of occasions over three or so years and always been happy with the food and the service. This time however, despite the usual friendly welcome from the proprietor we felt a little disappointed.We arrived early so no delay in ordering. In past years the menu has been a rather 'Heath Robinson ' plastic folder, but my recollection is that we could understand most of it and had no trouble ordering. On this occasion we were presented with new, up market menu cards (nothing wrong with that! , however they were much more difficult to understand and we were not sure what we were ordering. Our starter, calamari, was great crisp, warm and tasty. However the main course was less satisfying. My steak, cooked medium as requested, was tasteless and chewy to the point of being indigestible. My wife 's salmon was OK but she could not fathom out what the peculiar sauce was. Shame really, I guess our poor grasp of the language was partly to blame, nevertheless we have had good meals in the past just not this time."
