"Decided we’d grab a takeaway whilst staying nearby for a family holiday. My family (kids 2, 9 12 are pretty standard with Indian food and tend to order similar most places. I called to order so hubby could collect; friendly staff who were really helpful over the phone (some choices come rice bread and I didn’t want to order too much and have waste! ; We ordered x 3 starters and x3 curries (one came with rice, one with naan an extra rice and chapatis which is pretty standard for us and it came in around the £50 mark; a little more than our Yorkshire equivalent but still not bad. We were really pleased with our food; samosas aren’t the large homemade style we get at our local but we’re tasty (x2 small per portion ; chicken park or as we’re lovely and delicious! Chick Tikka Marsala was good not bright pink! and had delicate creamy sauce which is can be hard to find. Chick tikka balti was great; a kick without too hot and lots of usually onions a spellers as well as lots of large pieces of chicken and the korma was creamy, tasty and went down well with our korma king! Pilau rice was lovely and delicate flavours (again no bright coloured dyes and breads were lovely and tasty. Would dispute those saying it’s bland; i thought it was really tasty and the menu really comprehensive. Would definitely use again as takeaway or possibly eat in if returning got the area in future."

"We decided to go out fro breakfast and Cafe Aroma was the first place we came across. The place was busy when we walked in so we sat at a small table opposite the kitchen. We ordered 1 tea, 1 coffee, 1 Maxi Breakfast and 1 late breakfast without tomato. The drinks were served promptly. They already had added milk to the tea which is unfortunate as people like to take it differently and this was not to my taste. While we were waiting for our food we witnessed several plates being returned as items had been added that had not been wanted. I witnessed the cook move other items on to another plate and sending them back out. This could have had severe consequences if the customers had requested the items not be included due to an allergy. When our food was served it seemed to be excessively greasy, items such as the fried bread had been cooked in oil. Obviously I did not eat it. A waitress came over and asked if I was finished (while my partner was still eating) and I told her of the problem. Her response was oh really in a disinterested tone. She took the plate and did not report the issue to the kitchen and more importantly did NOT apologise. I also noticed that a Mr Muscle bottle had been reused for a different substance (Mr Muscle is not dark green) which is a Health and Safety No no! This had been intended as a treat for my partner and I. However, we left with a bad taste in our mouths for a number of reasons."

"My mate and I met at the pub for a quiet lunchtime beer and chat..it was great to see him as we had not seen each other for years and need to catch up on news... All we got was pressure and hassle from the...staff. We had our beers..two minutes later one staff member arrived asking if we needed more drinks??..No thank you...Two minutes later another staff member arrived..You gents ok??..Can I get you more drinks??....Our beer was barely touched..No thank you we are fine.. Two minutes later another staff member arrived ...Can I get you more drinks?? Then a young man arrived..Are you gents dining with us??.. we had not planned to eat, just have a beer .. Do you have sandwiches??...No we don't was the answer. Five minutes later another question if we had ordered food??.. Different staff member arrived time after time, every few minutes to ask if we needed more drinks or if we were ordering food... We ordered food we didn't want...It was nothing special..Usual pub food that is quickly forgettable..Not great food..mediocre. Only then did the hassle stop and we were left alone to have a chat. I know there is not much profit in beer...Pubs make their money on food. But the restaurant area was not busy...We were not sat in the restaurant dining area..The table was not made up with cutlery ready for diners..No further customers were sat in our area...The table was NOT required for diners. IT IS A PUB!!...People to go pubs to drink beer and spirits, read a book, chat to other folk, play cards, read a newspaper...It a place of social gathering. All we got was hassle and pressure. I do not often write reviews..Far less write a poor report..I much prefer to give praise and say things were excellent. We shall NOT return.. Incidentally, I do know and like good food..The previous evening I dined in a pub where the chef was a past winner of the TV programme MasterChef ...However, this pub food was mediocre..."

"Previously we were regular diners art the clones to the pandemic. as oaps we feel a bit safer to dare so we decided to celebrate our high-time day there last week. we were aware that there has been a change in management in the pub lately. the service and eating were excellent at previous visits. I booked a table for a weekend slot. when we arrived, we should have been warned of a little dislike, because in contrast to other nearby facilities the parking was almost empty. When we came in, we found that there were only a few. (although the time when we were there, the total number of customers, including us, only ten total.) we have only announced our arrival to say that there are no records about our booking. the girl that met us then asked if we had booked under another name – what we had not. another employee member was called who asked the same question again. even after the email confirmation, the staff still murmured that there must be a mistake – and make it harder that it was our mistake! as well, with an almost empty pub restaurant, I cannot see why it would be a problem to find a table for two. we sat. we ordered a wine and a soft drink. the drinks only arrived after the appetizers. In the meantime, another group of four had arrived. I heard they complained about the long waiting period until you were ordered. when the starter finally arrived, the man in the party only commented on the slow service to work from the waitress who, aggressively, according to my opinion, said that they work with two employees. safe, even with two employees, they could handle only ten customers in total. the menu at the crown has changed slightly since the pre-covid and my favorite starter is no longer included. our other food was in order, but the service was appalling. I think everyone who cares in this night would agree. we will not come back until we know that there is a shaker-up of service and keeping of the personal that is a candid, as before covid we probably dinate there, and entertain friends there, at least once in the month."
