"First time to Cranfield over Bank Holiday Monday weekend. My family I wanted to try The Beachcomber on our last night. We arrived at 5.30pm, there were several customers standing around the till area, so it wasn 't clear if they were waiting to be shown to a table, to pay, or to collect from the takeaway service. We stood for 20 minutes, during which time the 2 very young and inexperienced-looking staff members didn 't come over, hand us a menu, or apologise for the delay in seating us. My husband eventually lifted a menu, having checked with a staff member if it was ok to do so and we decided to seat ourselves. There were no kids ' menus, so I went to the counter to ask the staff, and was told they were being reprinted, but gave me a choice of food options nonetheless. Having made our meal choices, we waited another 15-or-so minutes for someone to come and take our order. Again, it felt like no one bothered, despite the staff walking past us with other orders. Again, I went to the counter to let the staff know that we were ready to order, to be told that the kitchen was closed and no further orders were being taken! No apology!! The 2 very young front of house staff looked completely out of their depth and there was no sign of management to direct them. All in all, a really negative experience, so we won 't be back"
