"Overall, one of the better restaurants in Pompeii and certainly the best one in this part of town. Two spaces: inside and outside veranda. Ate outside which had a very nice pergola. Deep gravel floor made seating uneven. No clear separation between smoking and non. Table clothes would better fit the style restaurant is going for. Perhaps because I came early (to be expected after 6+ hours in the scavi? but the service was mediocre. Waitstaff spoke English and used English menus; however, having the original Italian on the menus and speaking Italian when the guest knows Italian avoids confusion. Food came before the wine (had to remind them that I ordered wine . Was brought the wrong wine or at least charged for the riserva rather than normal. Uncorked at table, but not asked to check cork. I also do not understand why so many Tuscan wines on the list when in great wine country. Was forgotten at times as I was the only person outside, despite a server coming out to bus the other tables outside. There was confusion with the only other table outside (left before my pasta . They were charged for my meal. Problem was clarified, but should not have happened in n uncrowded restaurant. Own it and the guests will thank you. Picky? Not if you want to pass as upscale. The food was good, but not for the price. The Amuse-bouche/canapé was a nice touch but hard bread. Clear it had been sitting around. Mussel appetizers were tepid and needed more spice, accompanying bread hard. Unclear if fresh. Pasta (mussels with beans was quite good, hot and savory, nice for a cool evening. No Secondo. Contorno (veg. side; I had the grilled vegetables was decent, nothing special. Dessert trio was ok, nothing special. Overall, very good for the location (there are better restaurants in town that cost less . I would like to have seen more truly seasonal and local dishes. As we have family near in the area of Pompeii and I have been coming to Italy for 25+ years, this is not a stretch."

"My wife and I stopped for dinner at Tempio after spending the day exploring Pompeii. We were told outside that we could do a wine-tasting in the restaurant. Since we were the only customers at the time (5pm is too early for dinner by Italian...standards), we were given a private tasting on the balcony. A very knowledgeable and friendly lady named Carmela told us a lot about the wines from her winery, Sorrentino, and let us sample everything she had available. She also brought us our meal when it was ready (even though she didn 't actually work for the restaurant), and informed us that we could take a tour of the Sorrentino winery if we wanted to come back the next day (we didn 't have time, but we plan on going next time we visit). She was very helpful, and the wines were amazing! As for the food, we split a plate of Spaghetti Carbonara, and it was delicious (the best meal we had on our entire trip). The setting was beautiful, and we ended up missing a couple of trains because we were having such a good time. My wife said it made her feel like she was in Eat, Pray, Love ! There are a lot of restaurants/vendors that line the path between the Pompeii excavation site and the train station, and they all seemed over-priced and geared towards tourists... Tempio Ristorante was out-of-the-way, not too busy, and seemed more like kind of authentic Italian restaurant that we went to Italy to enjoy!"
