"This dining experience was utterly ruined by the appalling service. Admittedly we did not book in advance so we had a table outside, right at the end of the row. However we gladly accepted this. We then had bread and water delivered to the table. We then had to ask for menus, then ask for drinks before waiting a further 35 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The wine list was 34 pages on an iPad plonked in front of us! We ordered a bottle of Rose and a glass of red wine, which arrived in about 10 minutes. The wine was opened with due ceremony, including sniffing the wine cork) and poured into three of our glasses. Despite having purchased the bottle it was taken away by the waiter. My wife then pursued the waiter into the restaurant to inform him we had purchased the bottle so could we please have it back at the table. Food arrived, which to be fair was good. I asked for another glass of red wine 10 minutes later it hadn’t arrived so we asked again. Another 10 minutes, it still hadn’t arrived. When it did I had finished my meal, so I sent it away. The whole episode was largely down to the incompetence of a new member of staff, but nevertheless one has to question the level of training this person has received and how well they are supervised. This restaurant purports to be more upmarket and towards the fine dining end of things it needs to ensure its staff are of equally high quality!"

"Overall one of the better restaurants in Pompeii and certainly the best in this part of the city. Two rooms: inside and outside veranda. Ate outside who had a very nice pergola. Deep gravel floor has seats uneven. No clear separation between smoking and not. Table linen would fit better the style restaurant goes for. Maybe because I came early (after expecting 6 hours in revenge? but the service was moderate. Waitstaff spoke English and used English menus; but with the original Italian on the menus and speak Italian when the guest knows that Italian avoids confusion. The food came before the wine (so remember that I ordered wine). Was brought the wrong wine or at least accused for resurrection, instead of normal. Uncork at the table, but not asked to check cork. I also don't understand why so many Tuscan wines on the list if in large wine country. Was forgotten at times when I was the only person out, despite a server that took the other tables out. There was confusion with the only other table outside (left before my pasta). They were charged for my meal. Problem was clarified, but shouldn't happen in a restaurant that was not topped. Owned it and the guests will thank you. Picky? Not if you want to pass upscale. The food was good, but not at the price. The Amuse-bouche/canapé was a nice but hard bread. It was clear it was sitting around. Mussel appetizers were tepid and needed more spices, accompanying bread hard. Unclear when fresh. Pasta (cooks with beans were pretty good, hot and hearty, nice for a cool evening. No. Contorno (veg. page; I had the grilled vegetables was decent, nothing special. Dessert trio was okay, nothing special. Overall very good for the location (there are better restaurants in the city that cost less. I would like to have seen more really seasonal and local dishes. Since we have a family near Pompeii and I have come to Italy for 25 years, this is not a route."
