"We hadn't booked in advance but being a Wednesday night we successfully gambled on it not being full. For starters I ordered Marinated Olives With Walnuts Sweet Pomegranate Seeds. All starters are served with the most delicious Persian flat bread. As much as I love them I was not prepared for the vast quantity of olives I was served. I'd recommend ordering a starter each and sharing them as there's more than enough to go around. For main course I ordered the Slow Cooked Lamb With Herby Rice from the specials board. The lamb was served on the bone but it was so incredibly tender that the meat just fell away. The herby rice was a lovely accompaniment. Like the starters there was no skimping on the portion size, the rice alone could have fed me for days! I really wanted to try the Baklava for dessert but I stupidly ordered an additional flat bread with my main course that rendered me full to the brim. I'll let that be a lesson for next time, and there will be a next time as there are many more dishes that I wish to try. Considering the portion size the prices are more than reasonable. Two starters, two mains, an additional flat bread and four soft drinks came to £47. The decor is nice, the restaurant very much has a homely feel to it. Service was relaxed but attentive, at no time did we feel rushed but also we never felt ignored. If I had to find a down side it would be that they don't serve Tahdig, but I guess you can't have everything. This really is a small downside compared to so many plus points."

"This morning we received excellent service at the restaurant. The staff, particularly the ladies, were extremely accommodating and quickly set up a table for our group of 6 children (aged 5-8) and 3 adults. The service was efficient despite our large group, and the prices were reasonable. The food was also delicious with a good variety to choose from on the children's menu. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be coming back in the future."

"I ordered food from this restaurant through Uber Eats. The delivery person, who was wearing a La Passione polo shirt, called me to say he was outside an address further down the road. I tried to guide him back to my house, but he seemed confused and eventually gave up and said he was going home. After a brief wait, I flagged him down as he drove past and he gave me my food without apology, complaining about his manager and telling me he had already finished work. The food arrived about 20 minutes late, but was still hot. The pasta was average, but the tiramisu was delicious. I emailed the restaurant about the incident but did not receive a response. I was polite to the driver despite his rude behavior and will not be ordering from this restaurant again."

"Popped in this afternoon as in the area for a Mayday fair. Staff were very accommodating. We had our dog with us so we were popped in the bar. We had lasagnas and apple pies which were tasty. Very well priced. Will definitely be popping back to this dog friendly pub in the future."

"Naaa...Not nice. The special chow mein was inappropriately named. A food container containing a handful of noodles separated at one end from the tasteless sauce bulked out with veg and a token amount of meat. The Satay sauce was too thin and runny, more like a gravy. Though the spring rolls to be dipped in it were passable. Cheery bunch but in my opinion the food not so cheery. Not a regular one for a take away....last minute decision coz running late. 13 sods I would have been better off keeping in my wallet. Live and learn. Won't be using again."

"when I was a hapless passagier six months ago when I was first brought to the Tollgate and without a slight degree remembered the amazing coffee walnut cake I had, I made a special point today to take back a stretch from cornwall to london, which ensures a timely stop in this charming tea shop. I can not recommend to eat enough excellent, to die skorones (some rest, for which the exceptional friendly and friendly staff out on the way), magnificent views, and two wonderful little ponies. bypass all service stations and make them their way to this place, convenient right in front of the m4. we will surely come back!"

"I went to this restaurant for my birthday dinner last night with a group of 10 people. The food took about 45-50 minutes to arrive, and two people had to wait an extra 10 minutes after everyone else had already been served. The main toilets were not very clean, with urine all over the floor and seats. My husband took our son to the toilet where a dog (on a leash) approached them, which scared our son. While in the bathroom, there were men organizing a drug deal, which continued even while my son and husband were waiting for a free toilet. We ended up using the disabled toilet instead. The decor has been updated and looks nice, but it still has some of the same issues as before the refurbishment. The server who helped us yesterday was very friendly, though!"

"We visited this lovely coffee shop for a picnic bench afternoon tea and it was outstanding. We visited as a group of 7 ladies on a hen do. The food was amazing and so lovely. It was nice to have different food, burgers, chips, mozzarella bites and mushrooms rather than the usual ham sandwiches. Cakes were delicious. Would highly recommend. The ladies in the cafe were very accommodating and welcoming. We had the best time, starting the hen do off with a delicious picnic bench afternoon tea. A must! Thanks for having us!"

"The family (with 2 dogs) gathered here for a post Xmas Sunday lunch. The booking process was easy, as was the pre ordering for the 10 of us. We enjoyed a lovely lunch with extra vegetables brought out all very tasty. The staff were all lovely and friendly. Afterwards we easily moved to the area by the wood fire for extra drinks. Someone mentioned on here that a 10% tip is added to the bill so that they accidentally paid a bigger tip. When our bill was brought to us it was mentioned this was on there but it could easily be taken off, and it was clearly listed on the bill. In fact we added a little more as we were all happy with the service and food. As I live in the area I look forward to visiting again very soon."

"We booked a table for adults a good week in advance for lunch having advised there were vegetarians in the party. So much went wrong, I’ve highlighted only a few issues below: When we arrived we were advised that we had not...‘pre-booked’ the vegetarian food, hence we could only order of the Sunday menu, on which there were only choices, a salad from the first course or a vegetarian roast which consisted of more veg and an extra Yorkshire pudding. Nit great but we would make it work. Drinks arrived and given that it was the hottest day of the year, there was no ice, as the machine was broken why they couldn’t have gone to of supermarkets within less than a minute drive and just got bags of ice to pop in the freezer was a surprise. drinks went back as they were warm. Our waiter, Ben, who had been working there for months could not answer ANY questions and was in and out referring the questions, which took the ordering process ages and was made obvious to us that we were being ‘difficult’. eventually the food came and what was described as ‘garlic chips’ turned out to be shavings of potato literally about a cm long. When we asked were the garlic chips were, we were told the shavings were the chips. So frustrated we ordered a few extra rounds of roasted potatoes to be told it would take time as the chef was busy!! As we had our food in front of us, we asked if they could prioritise and at this point the owner came out and asked ‘what do you want now?’ We advised her of the issue and how the menu description was not reflective of the food we had ordered and that we would like some roasted potatoes. We were asked very rudely if we ‘wanted the food’. Again I explained and again Karen asked if we wanted the food. Again we asked for sides of roasted potatoes. Karen’s whole demeanour and attitude made us feel so uncomfortable that we decided to pay and leave and a member if our party went into the rest to ask Karen to prepare our bill. We left having felt unwelcome, by both Karen and Ben. It was made clear to us we were being difficult and the tones and demeanour of Karen left all of us feeling that we were being treated differently because of who we were. hands down the worst experience."

"We recently went for brunch. It was busy but we had pre-booked. Food was good although service a bit hit miss. The thing that caused me to write this review is due to the following. As we were leaving an elderly lady on her own who was clearly a local judging by the amount of people she spoke to came in and asked for a table. She was asked had she booked and she said no and the female who served her said they had no tables and were fully booked. Immediately behind her, as she left 3 people asked for a table (who I know were not local) and they also clearly stated they had not booked. However as they were a larger quantity of people the same female who served the elderly lady said, not a problem come with me! While I understand places need to make money, to turn the elderly lady away and accept a party of 3 is a disgrace. The elderly lady is local and would spend more in a year in there than the party of 3. You clearly prioritise your profits over locals and also more importantly how to treat people. A message to the female serving, imagine if that was your elderly relative, would you want her treated that way?? Will never set foot in here again and would advise others to avoid it."

"My daughter and myself took 4 little people here for lunch..... It took us a while to get sorted, the children were very excitable. The young lady waitress came to the table several times before we placed our order.... The children settled down with their colouring mats which were supplied by the restaurant. "We haven’t been for a while but we thought that we would give the breakfast ago. Upon arrival we were surprised to see only 2 people in the restaurant it took a very short time to find out why. We both ordered the classic breakfast the sausage’s were cremated by only Luke warm at best. The mushroom was cooked but was at the temperature of just coming out of the fridge as was the tomato, hash browns had a vague Luke warmth about them as was the bacon. The only thing on the plate that was hot was the eggs but being served on cold plates in a cold restaurant that were themselves cold in a very short time. All in all a totally disappointing experience which we will not be repeating. Would have complained if asked how the food was but didn’t see the server after she delivered the food until I went to look for her to pay."

"I recently visited The Squire Inn in the town centre of Chipping Sodbury and was impressed by the lively atmosphere. The food was excellent, the management and staff were friendly and the locals were welcoming. The bar is spacious and well organized, and the large garden is perfect for enjoying a meal outdoors if the weather cooperates. The manager has introduced various innovative weekly events, such as Gluten Free and Vegetarian Tuesdays with a new menu each week, and Bring Your Own Wine Mondays (limited to one bottle per couple). It may seem unusual to bring your own alcohol to a pub, but with the landlord's permission and no corkage charge, it adds to the charm of this traditional English pub. With its character, great food, convenient location, and delightful staff, The Squire Inn is definitely worth a visit."

"We were gifted a voucher for Afternoon Tea here so went along. Sad to say it was a pretty negative experience. We were shown to what must surely be one of the worst tables in the place on arrival then ignored whilst the server socialised with people seated at a nearby table. After a long tedious wait another server took pity on us agreed to our request to move to a better table. We ordered were served the tea. The presentation was poor it was visually untempting. The sandwiches were rough ready but tasted pleasant enough if you were hungry. Once scone each, one plain dull one a fruit one which was so dried up rock hard you could sole your shoe with it. Cutting into it, it just crumbled to dust. There was a strange collection of cakes, all shapes sizes they looked like factory made cakes with a mass produced taste. We were offered regular refills of our hot drinks. The place is unattractive depressing. I saw the price of the tea on the menu can safely say it is grossly overpriced, there is far better on offer for a smaller price at nicer venues locally. I felt bad for the friends who gifted us this. Very poor."
