"I took my daughters (aged and her for an evening meal on the chalet staff night off It is a very traditional Italian restaurant that is clearly very popular with the local French as well tourists. The staff work really hard and...are exceptionally polite and helpful. The food was really high quality and plenty for even the most hungry! We all had pasta main courses and a dessert and it was very reasonably priced. This restaurant is tucked away (almost opposite the Church) and we went on a recommendation otherwise we might have not known it was there! This is a gem and I will definitely return when we next visit Val d'Isere"

"It all started positively when we booked a resto in Val D’Isère about two weeks in advance. When we arrived on time we were confronted with a rather fully packed small restaurant, where tables were small and installed with about in-between....Cosy sitting together was suddenly too cosy and very noisy, given the small space of the resto. Talking to each other became almost shouting at each other, at some tables. Our food (fondue savoyarde royale) was brought on time, tasting ok, and portions also ok. We left soon without taking coffees, because of the crowded and hot atmosphere. All of this would have led to a rating, but the real problem started two hours later, when both of us experienced a serious diarrhea, for the next hours. Since we had not eaten since we could only conclude that something was wrong with the food we had eaten. Maybe the cheese fondue had been prepared a bit too long in advance, and had been exposed to some bad bacteria (lysteria But the next morning everything was ok again. Finally, a rating "

"Out for a meal after a day on the slopes, came across L'Arbre de Vie slightly off the main street. Got a table for four without a booking (Monday night) although it was full. Food was great - between us we had cod, tagine and prawns. A really nice mix for a French restaurant - Raclette and Fondue still available but other choices too if you are having a cheese overload. Profiteroles for dessert were stunningly good - just make sure you've had a hard day on the skis to burn off the calories! The tree in the centre is a wonderful centerpiece and adds to the generally quirky vibe. Overall a lovely dinner, price was pretty standard for the resort. Would definitely go again"

"La Table de l’Ours fait indéniablement partie des meilleurs restaurants où j’ai eu le plaisir de dîner. Ils ont facilement répondu aux besoins de chacun, en particulier les miens avec des restrictions alimentaires. Remplacer les Saint Jacques par un délicieux plat de chou-fleur et remplacer la lotte par des escargots incroyablement savoureux ont démontré leur adaptabilité. Le foie gras était un délice absolu et le poulet était si exquis que je n'ai pas pu résister quelques secondes. Le savoir-faire du chef Antoine Gros transparaît dans chaque plat. Il est extraordinaire. Inès et tout le personnel étaient exceptionnellement compétents, chaleureux et professionnels. Mon réveillon de Noël n'aurait pas pu être plus parfait grâce à cette expérience fantastique."

"After searching online for somewhere to eat we decided to book Le Barillon we are so happy that we did. Whilst the restaurant is slightly out of the town (we walked around half an hour) there is a bus that travels to and from...the restaurant which makes it so much easier either way, it is worth the travel. The restaurant itself is super cosy, relaxed and calming. The staff were so friendly and attentive. We both had the beef fondue which was served with fries, salad and a selection of house sauces. The food was incredible and we could not fault the overall experience. Everything is reasonably priced, especially for the area (beef fondue was each) and a house red was for half. After finishing our meal we were left to finish our wine and chat, and in no way felt pressured to hurry and leave. We enjoyed ourselves so much we booked to return at the end of our trip whilst we were there. Could not recommend the restaurant enough!"

"this place is the largest self-service in val d’isere. great selection of food well presented. the main problem is that on a sunny day skiing on this side of the mountain is so good that the place is very busy. it can. good 30 minutes take to get into a snake around the theks to get the food and when a hot dish the time they pay it is cold. the outsight is amazing and worth the trip. the prices are so cheap in comparison to all others. the trick is to get there really early to the best and hit the line. Otherwise, after 2 the queues are gone, but so is most of the food."

"A lot of people, the locals complain that they’ve lost less tourists! Station closed during confinement! Beautiful spot on the lake! We arrive at 2:20, full of tables, we wait... no hello! The waitresses pass before us ...We are 4, I approach the reception and ask if we can have lunch! Sorry, ma'am, it's better to book! We have nothing to eat!!!! I know this place perfectly, it’s been 30 years since we’ve been coming to winter in the middle of the season for lunch! This is the first time in summer! Too bad to hear someone complaining about the lack of activity and doing nothing to hold customers!"

"No matter what anyone says about this restaurant, it is honestly the best lunch that we have had in Val D'isere to this day! It wasn't too busy as we came for a slightly early lunch in December before Christmas, although this may change at...different times of the year/day. We arrived after a long morning of skiing so ordered some chips that came extremely quickly and were delicious. There was an amazing array of sandwiches etc. at the bar, and my mother ordered a tasty cheese and ham tart. The rest of my family ordered the beef fillet from the barbecue which also arrived quickly and was so tender and delicious. Although this restaurant/bar was self-service (which people, including myself will often think is a bit of an inconvenience) it didn't matter in the slightest for us. So if you want an excellent meal with options for all the family, this is the place to go. The staff were very helpful and were constantly checking that the food was okay (which of course it was We will be back in a heartbeat!"

"it is relatiw spacious, quiet and relaxed by val d’isere standards. the petersilie grilled whole lobster was excellent. fresh from her own vimarium and so beautiful I had two more days later. in the first night it was quite quiet; on Friday they were packed and although I had not booked, they managed to find me a table. service was friendly but a bit distracted. all usual Savoyard dishes are also present. overall is a more beautiful experience than the more obvious tourist sites."

"We were staying at the Tsanteleina for Christmas and thought we ought to eat at least once in the restaurant (other than for breakfast). Christmas Eve seemed a good idea as we wouldn't have far back to our beds! We started off with drinks in the stylish bar before being shown to a great table. Admittedly the decor of the restaurant is a bit unimpressive (it's so almost there, just a change of tables and chairs to make it more Alpine chic rather than hotel restaurant would do it). Our three young children had the buffet option, which provided them with a good range of food to pick at, all very tasty. My husband and I had the main menu which came complete with amuse bouche and various palate cleansers. The standard of the cooking was incredibly accomplished and had we not had three rather excited children we would have taken much more time to enjoy it. By the time we all got to dessert, which offered an excellent choice of delicious patisserie, we could barely eat another morsel and I really wanted to! It was a lovely touch to have the chocolate and pistachio christmas tree for the table to enjoy and service was faultless. It seems a shame that the standard of the cooking and service are not done more justice by the room. That said, we'd probably struggle to get a table if they redecorated. I was also impressed that they don't book seatings, so you can eat in confidence that you're not going to be rushed so that they can take another booking. Admittedly it wasn't cheap but it was Christmas Eve and it did feel worth every penny."

"I have been to Val d'Isere six times, for a week each time, and have eaten at many of the restaurants in town. I've eaten twice at La Corniche. Both times were disappointing. It gets very loud in the evening; you should expect to wait...to be seated; the service is rushed and inattentive; and the food is of poor quality in view of the prices charged. it's not a horrible place, but you can do so much better in Val d'Isere."

"I have to say that I probably didn't do this meal justice as I'd stupidly had a large lunch that day. The place is very nice and the service is excellent, they really did go out of their way to look after us. When we walked in we had a drink at the bar first where we were presented with 2 types of bread and a deep fried piece of foie gras. Nice start Then they took our order at the bar and gave us a goats cheese cone, an oyster and more foie gras. Then we sat down at our table, where we were presented with a poached egg in a dark crispy shell with more foie gras. And this was all before the starter! I like foie gras but I felt there was a bit too much. Then we had our starters of scallops and black truffle which were excellent. We then had the chefs speciality, a whole roast chicken (with black truffle under the skin) carved at the table. By this time I wasn’t really hungry and had to start forcing a little in. The problem was there were 2 servings of chicken each! I declined my 2nd serving. The chicken was nice but having had black truffle with the starter, it was probably a mistake to have it again with the main. The main was served with garlic mash. Now I love garlic but this was way way too strong, it was inedible. We then had a sorbet amuse bouche followed by desert which was ‘award winning’ profiteroles. (These were sourced externally and not produced by the chef). They were amazing (see pic) Then we had coffee and a mini chocolate selection before my wife rolled my back to the chalet. Personally I wouldn’t rush back but as I say I probably would have appreciated it more if I was hungry when I arrived. It is better than average"

"We walked into Le Petit Danois to blaring music from a very tired band, Jill Andreas or something like that. Lo and behold virtually the whole pub was dancing and singing along. I suppose i cant argue against that, majority rules, but the...music really was terrible. The bar is very tired, dark and dingy. There was water dripping from the roof onto one of the pool tables. The service at the bar was really slow. I felt sorry for the bar lady. She was on her own for most of the time and everything just seemed to take forever. To serve a glass of wine she had to pull a cork from a bottle, all this in the middle of happy hour. We ordered some snacks to accompany our drinks. Nachos were badly put together with a smattering of cheese and the tiniest bowl of guacamole, salsa and sour cream. Prawns were a little dodge too, felt like they had been microwaved and put in some sauce. I suppose you cant expect the greatest food from a pub. Long story short, if you like music and want to spend time with some middle aged Englishmen and women then this is probably a good venue for an après ski drink; if you appreciate something a little more sophosticated, try somewhere else."

"The restaurant was tipped as one of the best in the village but in reality, like most hotels, this was the only restaurant in the hotel L'avenue Lodge which served both the half board guests and any outside eaters. The food looked size but was...very basic. My boyfriend ordered the green salad and was served a bowl of rocket with grated parmesan for Unfortunately most places in Val are overpriced for the quality and service they deliver, this was the same."

"Even before we arrive, we receive helpful emails asking us if we need our transfers from the airport organised, or if we would like any lunch or dinner reservations to be taken care of prior to arrival. Yes, absolutely.... And it all gets done, and...everything goes flawlessly. This was our fourth time staying at La Mourra. Each time we have stayed in the double bedroom suite of room 22.... This is a perfect set up with two older teenage boys and ourselves. La Mourra is everything that the other hotels are… And that they are not. It is beautiful, luxurious, exceptionally clean, comfortable and well-located. The level of service here outdoes absolutely everywhere… Everyone is made to feel like they are the most important guest! (Certainly due to the amazing hotel manager Matthieu).No request is ever too small or too big.....Two years ago when we stayed for Christmas and it was going to be our first Christmas not at home, I requested a decorated Christmas tree for our room...And there was a tree, beautifully decorated and all lit up, when we arrived. By the way....the beds! The most comfortable beds EVER. The hotel has their own vans/cars, So there is always someone available to take you and your skis to and from the slopes, or to pick you up if you finish in La Daille or Le Fornet, And they are just a phone call away and always quick and doing the job with a smile. Honestly, you really feel as if the staff enjoy their jobs… Everyone is so kind! It would be unfair not to mention the exceptional housekeeping.... The room is completely cleaned top to bottom not just once, but twice each and every day! The minibar is free and restart routinely, the breakfast is fabulous, the hotel has both the Times newspaper (UK), as well as the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal… In addition to all of the French language newspapers. And if you take a day off of skiing (but seriously, why would you .... The spa is pretty fabulous too! Every time that we leave, we are already trying to plan on when and how we can get back....."

"Visited approx 2 years ago and had a good meal accompanied by great live music. However, on this occasion the service was woeful ; we ordered repeat drinks when the mains came and by the time we had finished they still hadn 't arrived! Didn 't bother...re ordering just paid and left... The main issue though was the poor quality of the food : Ribs had no flavour whatsoever of the promised lemongrass and arrived suspiciously quickly, certainly not freshly grilled to order... They appeared very dry almost certainly reheated/sitting around for a while.... I should have sent back, something I somewhat regretted when within 4 hours I was unwell.... My daughter had a very basic vegetarian dish which was ok at best. Extremely limited menu options and no live music. There are so many good restaraunts in Val do yourself a favour and go to one of those and avoid this place."

"We have come to the hotel many times, and we have always loved our stay. The staff is very friendly, the location is great and the rooms are comfortable. However this year we were quite disappointed compared to previous stays. The restaurant staff, while very friendly and curteous, were either understaffed or the kitchen was understaffed, because we often ended up waiting an hour for our main dish, and you could hear many others grumbling about the same issue. The food quality is also not as great as it used to be, although breakfast is still pretty good and dinner is copious most of the time. The rooms were still comfortable, although for the price you pay, some of the single rooms are not much bigger than a cupboard and some amenities are not provided, such as shampoo, conditioner, body lotion etc, which used to be provided."
