"y husband and I had lunch today at The Oak. We realise in these trying times restaurants and pubs etc are having a hard time but that does not excuse serving poor quality food. I had the stuffed mushroom to start with my husband had the scotch egg. The starters turned up on a small plate with no garnish to make them even look appetizing the scotch egg was really small although it had a runny yolk with it was an attempt at a bloody mary drink in a small glass) I felt sorry for my mushroom it looked really lonely on the plate I didnt particularly want to eat it but we had waited a while so I took the plunge and I will leave it at that. Next course we both had the lemon chicken burgers with chips chips were cooked in the oven) and that is precisely what we got no garnish presentation of food for me is important as you do eat with your eyes. If I had been lunching at a local cafe or service station I wouldnt have expected anything else but we were not...this is suppose to be a reasonably good restaurant. I did mention this to the waitress when she cleared our plates and she said she would inform the kitchen. We then asked for the bill my husband didnt look to happy then he showed me the bill when we got outside £39.40p which included 2 drinks of lime and soda. The starters themselves came to £13.45 which is why I am writing this review because no way they were worth it I wish I had taken a photo for people to have seen. I am not trying to wangle any freebies of this I am saying to the owners please please realise I know in these times you are struggling but so I am and my husband to do not have money to throw away on a lunch that was equal to local cafe."

"We (family of four with a teen pre-teen are staying in Childswickham just outside Broadway for a weeks holiday so thought we’d try the Childswickham Inn Brasserie as we could walk there through the pretty village, it has great reviews and it’s dog friendly. We booked for a Friday evening and were given our choice of tables in the very pretty garden area. Everything about the place is wonderful. The pub itself is a lovely country style inn with a very warm welcoming atmosphere. The outdoor area is beautiful with a lit pergola under canvas canopies and very comfortable chairs and roomy tables. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful and made a fuss of our two Labradors. The food was superb. Honestly some of the best traditional-but-next-level pub fare we’ve ever had. I had the pie of the day which was lamb, husband had Cumberland sausages and the kids had burgers. All completely homemade, served quickly, fresh piping hot and with generous portions. Husband suffered from extreme pie envy when he tasted my dish! We couldn’t resist the puds so opted for sticky toffee puddings and chocolate brownie. Again, all homemade, generously portioned and utterly delicious. The food was so good we decided to spend our final meal here and opted for Sunday lunch. We all had sirloin of beef which were served with the best (and biggest! Yorkshire puddings we’ve ever had. We’re from Yorkshire and we know a perfect Yorkie when we see (and taste one and these deserve the highest praise. The beef was perfectly cooked, thickly cut and it melted in the mouth. It was served with a generous portion of roast potatoes, cheesy leeks (a personal favourite! , a selection of perfectly cooked veg lovely rich gravy. Desserts were equally fabulous. Genuinely up there with the best food we’ve ever eaten and exceptionally good value. I just wish it was closer to home as we’d be returning constantly! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Perfect food, wonderful service, lovely ambience and surroundings and great value, more than deserving of five stars. Thank you for two wonderful visits, you were a highlight of our holiday!"

"we had a nice morning in stratford on avon and then decided to eat in white hearts on the way home. my wife ordered sirloin steak £24, I had the Sunday career. the bratkartoffels were like balls totally inedible, I didn't complain, I just took them from my teller and put them in a serviette, and returned to the carvery to replace them with new kartoffels. I sat down and my wife said that the steak was very fat, she doesn't want to complain, so simply cut off a third of the steak and leave it on the side of her teller. a young waitress came to ask how the meal was so obvious I said that the steak was very fat, the young girl went to tell the cook and came back to say that we could have a free drink as compensation. I said politely no thank you and that we would not pay the whole money for the steak. the cook then appeared in no time that was very abrupt and rude, he said to my wife with all respect madam sirloin steak should be fat and there is no problem with it, I explained that I eat steak quite often and that there is no possibility that a restaurant the amount of money for a steak that was a third atleast full fat. he accused me of being rude and said I didn't know what I'm talking about, I asked to talk to the manager, he said he was the manager if true, I can't believe how rude and how unprofessional someone could be who runs a business. then he removed both teller from us and we only paid for the drinks. my wife who doesn't like confrontation all over the left, broken and flooded. it was not about the money, someone who should do the right in professional wise, who did the opposite and acted like a petty child. we are both still completely shocked and annoyed by the unprofessional behavior of this person. please avoid the people at all costs"
