"Important: I only rate the restaurant, not the hotel. We were guests in the hotel and ate a la carte here one evening. First we had beetroot carpaccio and as main courses vegetarian dumplings and a vegetable strudel. The food here is relatively expensive, especially for the Harz region. The main courses were around 23 euros. Unfortunately the food was below average. The starter consisted of 5 slices of beetroot and some balsamic vinegar, the avocado cream was tasteless. The dumplings were homemade, but completely over-seasoned with cumin and there was no foam as promised. The vegetable strudel was mainly a mix of carrots and peas in puff pastry, which was in half a pumpkin soup. Unfortunately there is no taste. The wine was great, the service too and the ambience with the view down onto the place was very appealing. But I don 't understand why they 're trying to provide fine dining when there 's obviously a problem somewhere. Then it 's better to have a little better home cooking and a little cheaper. We were definitely glad we didn 't book half board."
