"This Italian restaurant on Johannesgasse, 1010 Vienna was the only non-Viennese food restaurant we visited on our trip and it was a wonderful surprise. We arrived just as the restaurant was opening for the evening and they placed us in a small annex off of the main dining area. This may have been a mistake as our evening was marred somewhat by a woman smoking at the next table. This was really surprising as you never see this in the US or UK any more. We may have been placed in the smoking area so will know better next time. Anyway, the service was excellent, and the food was wonderful. They have a lunch menu, a dinner menu, a trattoria menu, and a ‘surprise’ menu which allows you to choose multiple courses and can include wine pairings all for a set price. The food is fresh (fresh ingredients and freshly prepared), delicious and obviously created and served with love as Italian food should be. We had the pizza and the sea bass and both were fresh and delicious. This restaurant is fairly expensive for an Italian restaurant and on the day we visited we were told at the end of the meal that their card reader was not working and that only cash would be accepted. This could have been an issue due to the cost but we were lucky to have enough cash on hand. Other diners expressed severe concerns about this situation though. All in all we would have no hesitation about re-visiting this excellent restaurant in the future."
