"A few weeks back I went to try out Ahi poke´in Fitzrovia, this was exciting for me, as I have not tried Hawaiian food before and I was anxious to know what type of dishes that Ahi poke´serve. With Ahi poke´you can choose their signature bowls, Sweet green, Heat wave, Oahu and Side chick or why not build your own poke´ bowl. 1. First, you choose the base, either brown rice, quinoa, kale, or udon noodles, I always go for udon noodles when eating out, so I decided to do something different, so I chose brown rice. 2. My bowl needed protein, and as I chose a large poke´ bowl, I could choose two protein choices, so of course, I went with my favourite choices; salmon and tuna. 3. To give my bowl and added taste, I mixed the sauces sweet ponzu and sesame shoyu. 4. Lastly, was the topping, for my bowl Edamame, sweet potato, kimchee cucumber, burnt corn and an extra topping of avocado, my bowl was completed and all for 9.95. When picking the bowl, I realised that the bowl was actually quite large but jam-packed with goodness, my choice to go with the brown rice was a great choice, as the brown rice sat nicely with the Tuna and Salmon. The burnt corn gave the bowl an unusual flavour tangy flavour. With the sesame shoyu tieing in a nutty flavour to the bowl. My bowl tasted so good and it made me feel better knowing that all the ingredients used in my poke´ bowl had positive benefits. Brown rice aids in cleaning the digestive system and is high in magnesium. Corn is an antioxidant, which protects the body, from diseases and is packed with lutein and zeaxanthin, which are two phytochemicals that promote healthy vision. Whilst salmon is known to be rich in Omega 3 and fatty acids, it is high in B vitamins and is a great source of protein. It is so cool, that you can mix and match when creating your own poke´ bowl, as the different tastes are endless. For dessert, to cleanse my palette I chose their pineapple chunks in Earl grey sprinkled with coconut shavings. This was a perfect way to end my meal. Left to sit in the Earl Grey residue, the pineapple chunks are both sweet and refreshing. What I love about this place, is the fast pace and the different consumers that come and go out of Ahi Poke´. From the university students, the locals and the office workers, all looking to pick up a healthy bowl of goodness! I also noticed that Ahi poke´ also sells through Ubereats and the orders seemed to be pouring in! So if you live locally, why not pick up a bowl? Price:"

great, refreshing and very cheap. the only disadvantage is that it can only take away realistically, as there are about 3 seats and is always taken.

Cool Hawaiian concept, went for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. Fish was very fresh, many different toppings to choose from, i especially liked the almond turmeric topping. Was a bit pricey but worth it for the quality

The food is incredibly fresh and light, yet surprisingly filling! The selection of toppings is amazing and innovative, and the quality of the fish is superior to any poke I've tried before. The atmosphere is enhanced by great hip hop music vibes.

The other day, I tried a lunch spot that serves Hawaiian cuisine in a more casual setting. I had their Heatwave Bowl with salmon and spicy mayo, and it tasted incredibly fresh and had a nice kick to it. Next time, I think I'll build my own bowl since there are so many tasty toppings to choose from!

As one of the biggest food trends in the past few year, Poke has been popping up in some of the worlds major cities and finally arrived in London this year. Pronounced po-kay, Poke is the name for a popular marinated raw fish dish in Hawaiian cuisine, usually eaten as an appetiser, and is simply dressed with some scallions, onions, shoyu and sesame.

Poke popularity in London continues to intrigue me. Don’t get me wrong though. I love the stuff and am glad to see I’ve got options on where to get it when I’m on the go. One such eatery is Ahi Poke in Fitzrovia. Ahi Poke offers a good – if London-ised – version of poke in a short but tasty menu with an assembly line approach to fresh preparation. Seafood is sustainably caught. Veg is locally sourced when possible. Prices are reasonable, which bowls ranging in price from £5.95 to £9.95. Service is friendly and speedy. The dining area is pretty basic but clean, well light and pleasantly decorated with fun and sunny wall paintings.

I love investigating different food cultures so when the invitation came to review Ahi Poké – a new, casual all-day restaurant serving Hawaiian raw fish salad bowls – it was a no-brainer. Poké is a Hawaiian culinary staple consisting of raw, chopped and marinated Ahi tuna, topped with rice and vegetables that developed in the 1920s as an outcome of mass Japanese emigration to Hawaii bringing about a fusion of Japanese gastronomy with South Pacific produce. If you didn’t know that you really should catch-up – apparently there is a poké scene that is all the rage in LA and now it’s here. Catherine and I both chose one of the signature bowls. The Oahu (rice, Ahi tuna, red onion, radish, coriand...
