Bistro At The Brunton

My friend and I recently enjoyed a delightful two-course Christmas lunch at The Bistro at the Brunton. The service was top-notch and the food was exceptional. We couldn't find any faults at all. The entire experience from beginning to end was outstanding. Thank you.

My husband and I visit the Bistro frequently as we are treated so well I am disabled and use a walker The staff make sure we are seated at a suitable table . Nothing is too much trouble for every member of staff , Food is excellent I impressed by way all members of staff are aware of everything that is requiring attention

The bistro was busy and 5 of us walked in off the street hoping for a table and the staff couldn’t do enough to accommodate us. I am lactose intolerant and on hearing this the waitress was very accommodating. I had heard their scrambled egg roles were amazing, so she ensured I got one without dairy. What I had heard for true, the scrambled eggs were lovely, as was the coffee.

My partner and I ate here for the second time in a couple of months. It's not Michelin Star standard and it doesn't pretend to be but what you get is non pretentious fayre of more than ample portions. It's well cooked and served up by lovely enthusiastic staff. Great place to eat prior to the shows we attended. Definitely our number one choice in town for our nights at the Brunton.

Had to pick up laundry left day before in Musselburgh and found this online near bus stop and laundry. Waited a bit to be seated and for order to be taken, Once order was taken, service was quick and breakfast sandwich we each had was very good. The cafe is in lobby of the theater and entrance is just off It was worth a bit of effort and was one of our better breakfasts in the Edinburgh area.

During a rare visit to Musselburgh on a Saturday morning, we were unsure of where to go for coffee. A woman at the wool shop suggested Brunton Cafe. The cafe was very busy and we were worried we wouldn't find a table, especially when we were asked if we had made a reservation. Fortunately, there was a free table for two tucked away in a corner. The service was excellent, the cake was delicious, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We definitely plan to return.

We stopped in for a light lunch. Since we are small eaters, we typically share a meal. We decided on the soup and sandwich combo. Our server was great and kindly split the soup into two bowls for us. The portions were more than reasonable. The sandwich was freshly made with delicious egg salad. The hot chocolate was also very good. The prices were fair and the service was quick, efficient, and friendly. We will definitely return. They also have good hours of operation.

Now, you may have heard of afternoon tea. The Bistro does an excellent one but have you heard of “before noon tea” a mixture of breakfast and afternoon tea. Started with a Granola pot with Greek yogurt and berries. Tea or coffee (always topped up), orange juice or apple juice followed by… Mini buns with Stornaway black pudding, bacon and sliced sausage (all delicious) Scone with cream cheese then three different sweet treats All presented excellently of a tiered plate. So much food we came away with a ‘goody bag’ Service was Price Book it for a good feast before everyone else does.

What a warm and friendly place to stop for a cup of tea and a big slice of carrot cake. The staff were very accommodating when I sat at one of their tables outside the café, on my ownpart way on my coastal cycle through Musselburgh. One of them came out and brought me a pot of tea (a snip at 1.90GBP) to go with my own lunch. On my return journey later in the afternoon I went inside the café and had tea and cake. My cycling gear went unremarked. On each visit they seemed to be quite busy; not surprising with 2 panto performances on the day, but they were very friendly and accommodating. Thank you.
