"We enjoyed some great food at Bollywood Cottage when we went to celebrate my birthday whilst staying in a nearby cottage. We shared a mixed starter, which was all good. My wife chose the chicken shashlik (a favourite of hers whenever she sees in on a menu! . It was well spiced, and there was plenty of it; both chicken and accompanying peppers, tomatoes and fried onions. The waiter advised a small rice with it, which was plenty. Meanwhile I decided on a lamb biryani, which came served on a delicious flat omelette, and with a very tasty sauce. My son had secretly contacted the restaurant to arrange a surprise birthday dessert, and for the restaurant to telephone him in Scotland when we’d finished our meal so he could pay the bill! Now that’s what I call service beyond the call of duty by the restaurant and a great birthday present!"

"our second visit in two nights enjoyed it so much that we returned to the first time. jade was our server at the first visit, we sat in the library and celebrated our jubileee. we both ordered the rib-eye steak, both cooked for perfection and so tasty, best I had in a long time. our server tonight was jack, very attentive, didn't have to wait long until the food arrives, which was hot and delicious again. jack reviewed us a short time later to make sure we were satisfied with everything and how everything was in order to enjoy us. empty plates quickly deleted and jack returned to see if we need dessert. we decided to share one as we were a little full. When we asked about the bill, we didn't have to wait until she arrives. both jack and the previous night server are a credit to the old swan, nothing was too much annoyed and we felt very well looked after, thank you both.(sorry no photo’s, forgot, it cost too much)"

"Just outside of overcrowded Malham is this lovely little village with this great pub. There's several rooms but the main room had a nice fire on in the harth and was lovely and warm. The staff were super kind and the food and drinks were great. There's parking on the side of the road as well. For me after a good hike and dip, Malham itself is far too hectic and this place offered the perfect peaceful ambience and a nice town village rather than a tourist spot. Nearby activities: Hiking Food drinks: The food is excellent Noteworthy details: The atmosphere is amazing, that proper old timey feel"

"Visited the Angel Hetton recently and have mixed feelings. We were aware the Angel had changed hands but didn 't fully appreciate the TOTAL change we were going to. Anybody who previously loved the Angel Inn must realise this has now gone both in ambience, decor, staff and food. The Angel Hetton is a totally different place, the decor is now wood, concrete, grey, sparse and I have to say a little cold. The Bar top is an absolute amazing piece of art work and the new wooden bench seating with funny built in seat pads is somewhat uncomfortable but functional. We had lunch through in the Restaurant which has not changed layout but again the colour pallet is now grey...... grey, grey, grey! The atmosphere even though it was busy was hushed and just lacking, maybe we came on an off day? The menu is small and very 'fine dining ' focused, the food was wonderful and all our party enjoyed each course, you will no longer find any 'Old Angel ' favourites like 'Money Bags ' or 'Sticky Toffee Pud ', the dishes now are small, perfectly formed, and there is the presence of foam which always amuses me when I dine at fine dining establishments. Staff are pleasant and efficient, the lady sommelier was very good and had a lovely bubbly disposition. Would I return? Yes but probably in the evening and with the knowledge that the Angel is now a modern, fine dine restaurant rather than the warm, comfortable good food Inn it used to be. Price wise there isn 't a great deal of difference but some of the party did go off the lunch set menu. We were away in an adult group, I would bring my children here but they are over 12 years old, I would not be overly comfortable bringing young children here as I have in the past though. The food is something special and will surely encourage a new breed of diners to the Angel, I will be interested to see its future development."

"Enjoyed Sunday Lunch here today 5.11.23 /12:00 in this classic pub. As noted by others, it has a cosy feel, which we enjoyed, as compared to ultra modern or fake classic. The pub is divided into 2 areas: dogs allowed and no dogs . We were in the dogs allowed area and enjoyed seeing the various dogs we used to have one . We had reserved a table the day before by telephone friendly lady! and I would highly recommend anyone else to do so, as virtually all the tables had Reserved signs on them This, of course, may only be the case on Sundays . Some even had 2 reservations as ours 12:00 and 15:00 . And obviously, you may prefer to sit in the no dogs part of the pub and book accordingly. Food was in generous portions and very good value for money. We 2 persons chose the Beef Roast and the Pork Roast £15 each We had one generous portion of Sticky Toffee Pudding with sauce and ice cream £6 and a tea to follow. Toilets were very clean Finally a pub, where you can really smell the disinfectant! Friendly staff the manageress is obviously a friend of dogs There were water bowls and a jar of doggy treats on the mantelpiece. She said hello to all the dogs and Yes, she does also say hello to the guests ; Regretably, I read a couple of negative reviews on Google about a drunken manager, by a I think couple staying overnight. Is there someone else in the hotel? Or what happened? We personally, were fully satisfied with our meal and have already recommended the pub to friends family for Sunday Lunches! It was also nice to see that the dogs were extremely well behaved, which, as I think we all know, is down to their owners."
