"This is one of my favourite places to eat and drink and we come here regularly. It's in a beautiful location in the picturesque village of Dobcross and has gorgeous views of the village and surrounding countryside. The staff are so friendly and professional. Always a warm welcome at the Swan, and it's very popular with the locals too. We don't mind travelling over to visit every week as we love the food, service and location. The interior is very warm, cosy and traditional. Some great traditional features. All round very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. There are some lovely fires in a couple of the rooms for the winter months, and a function room upstairs is available. The menu is extensive, and the food is SPECTACULAR. The chefs are very creative with their specials board, and you really can't go wrong with whatever you order. They are super talented and know exactly what they're doing so it definitely keeps the menu exciting. All dishes executed to a tee. So much so, I can never resist ordering several dishes at once. Never kept waiting, and always a great experience. You definitely get your money's worth. Fantastic quality, and great presentation. The lunch menu is extra-good value too. Well worth a visit!!! Recommend people check food service times to avoid disappointment. You can find this on their website."

"If I could put 0 starts I would. I must admit we were a table of 12 on Christmas eve , the restaurant wasn't full so can't blame that. So we all got a starters within 20 minutes nothing wrong up to now. Then they cleared the starters and we were waiting for our mains . After 10 minutes of waiting the waiter came up and checked if our mains order was correct which they should have done when they took the order in the first place . The mains then took 50 minutes to arrive at the table or half of them atleast . One of the calzones had to be sent back as it were stone cold the middle. The other half arrived 20 minutes after the first lot by that time some people had finished there mains as they were going cold in front of them. Most of my guests did not have good things to say about their meals the ones that arrived hot and on time . Overall a terrible experience topped off the upstairs room we were sat in being cold and gloomy . Would not recommend to my worst enemies and will never be back."

"We used to eat at the White Lion regularly and it was good wholesome pub food. We were never disappointed. We decided to go again tonight and my biggest regret was actually not complaining when the food was served. I had Cheese and Onion pie. It was wafer thin for this dish and very, very small, the chips were like Aldi frozen chips only not as good. My wife had fish and chips which was like a large sardine with the same disgusting chips. Sadly we ate most of it not wanting a fuss, however when the waitress who was very nice) asked I told her our feelings. She went to the kitchen to relay our message but the chef/ manager did not care to see us. The food was expensive and very poor quality. Avoid this place at all cost."

"beautiful place to visit for decent eating in the traditional environment. personal very friendly and courteous, although it was very busy. I had lamm curry, it was very tasty, but very mild. the flesh was very slim, not to cut away fat. many parking spaces that are free of charge in front of the site and also a parking space! prices very appropriate for the quality of food. toilets clean, everything was clean. in any case they recommend a stop here!"

"Don’t eat here if you need gluten free. Our party of 9 had lunch last Sunday, had to pre order before arrival due to our large party. They were advised we had an 1 adult and 1 child gluten free. They couldn’t advise what could be offered gluten free other than chicken Caesar salad. They advised for the child that it lmight be better to bring our own!! On arrival they brought us the menus, seemingly unaware that we had pre ordered. We were told the fish pie, ordered by the gf adult couldn’t be gluten free, he was offered a burger on a gf bun only to be told 2 mins later there were no buns only bread. In the end he had a fillet steak. The child had a chicken dinner. We did ask if the children’s meals could be brought straight away but in the event they only arrived after our starters at 12.50 which was 50 mins after our 12 noon arrival. The food we had was very nice but the overall organisation and provision of gluten free options- despite having forward notice of this- was very poor. If you don’t want to cater for this dietary need that’s fine but you should make that clear when a booking is taken, particularly when you are asking people to pre order. I did contact the Old Bell directly via their website to make them aware of the above points but to date have had no reply."
