"My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around Durham when we chanced upon The Head Of Steam Pub, really pleased about this as I am a big fan of The Head Of Steam Pub chain, one in my home town of Liverpool were my...twin brother Stephen and I are frequent visitors, whatever town or city we visit we always keep an eye peeled for an outlet, this one in Durham was really good. Loved the look of this Head Of Steam Pub, a wonderful interior, pubby decor and furnishings, eclectic wall art, an eye catching serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside plus an upstairs outside terrace, its just a great pub to unwind in. My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Thursday evening, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the bar team, a quick study of their real ale's and we both opted to have Motorhead Road Crew American pale ale , these were poured and served in excellent condition by staff who are so Knowledgeable about their beers, we luckily managed to get a table outside were we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale, hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish, a classic pale ale so tasty and refreshing on such a glorious evening, my twin brother Stephen also gave me a thumbs up to his pale ale. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to this particular Head Of Steam Pub we were totally impressed. This Head Of Steam Pub is easy to locate along North Road. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, Midday till 11pm. A wonderful pub if you're planning a trip to Durham most definitely well worth checking out."

I love it, it’s such a good atmosphere and you will meet an amazing range of people. The drinks are slightly more expensive but that atmosphere makes up for that!

we've had bad experiences at other pubs in durham but this place never disappoints: it's a beer lover's paradise; the staff have always been good; the choice of seats is great no matter what the weather. it's our overall favourite pub in durham.

I appreciate this pub as my local, although he's 13 miles from where I live. it has an excellent selection of beer, nice eating, but best, excellent staff. it has come stronger than ever by switching off and large personal turnover. that is...in no small part because of the efforts of the new manager james and the new employee he hired. I am more than happy to make a round trip of over an hour to visit the week several times. I'd count the staff here as friends. excellent pub imho.

The Head Of Steam in Durham is a superb craft beer bar on North road that offers a superb beer range and a tasty food menu and was one of the last bar's we visited on a day trip from Newcastle. The Head Of Steam...is housed in a building that has a roof-top terrace and a fantastic courtyard. The inside is superb with lot's of beer related features throughout the bars interior and superb seating options. We have visited many Head Of Steam bars around the UK and this bar was as good as any we have been to.When we visited here we had a Motörhead Röad Crew American Pale ale which were superb and price wise on par with other Head Of Steam bars that we we have visited. This is a fantastic bar and w...

So, first of all I fully accept that there is a shortage of staff at the moment, and thst there have been issues with deliveries. However... Booked a table for 2 in advance, with an email from the venue confirming it. Turned up on time...to puzzled looks and no table reservation. Was shown to a table and told that it was cash only at the bar and that you could only pay by card or order food by using the app. Struggled to get the app working as the mobile signal is sketchy in the pub and internet was slowish. Finally got it up and running to find out that there was hardly any food available on the menu as most things were sold old. Staff friendly, but absolutely off their minds busy. There wa...

"Started off really well and went over to the counter and ordered a crepe with banana and Nutella and specifically stated no strawberries I also asked for a San Pelegríno still water as this was on the menu also. I was the first person to order and the last to eat in the end. I got brought my water over which was a cheaper brand water that I just paid £2 for what would I have liked to have seen ? We’ll when I asked for san pelligrino still water to be told that they don’t have that in. Finally my crepe comes and I take a bite and realise that it’s got strawberries in all the way through which I’m allergic too. One of my family members takes it back and says that I asked for banana not strawberry there’s a reason why I can’t eat it and didn’t want it on my crepe. Then 5 minutes later another crepe comes out that was my bitten crepe that someone had opened up and picked the strawberries out and put banana in. Disgusting absolutely … not sure if this was a mistake or just being stingy either way it’s not on. It then again gets returned because there is no way I am eating that and it gets explained once again there is a reason I can’t eat strawberries to which then one of the owners comes over to serve the correct crepe and apologise . I really hope a lesson was learnt today because cross contamination is not a joke. Please be careful when eating there. I didn’t get offered a refund but then again they were willing to serve me a bitten crepe again so it didn’t surprise me that much."
