"and the disappointments just came! 1) biggest disappointment was lamming, under boiled, tasteless, gristly and hard like an old boots. it was just not nice. 2) After booking on the basis of a wonderful menu on the display at the door, we were presented with a very...different and inferior menu at the table. 3) .if did my wife and I were initially presented with two different menus, then after a bit confusion, the waitress tasted my wife 's and gave her a menu like mine. 4) the glassware on the table was uncomplicated, gray tolerated for water and aureto engraved wine glasses, but the waitress opened our wein and continued to pour wein into my waterglass that already contained water! 5) it is worth saying that the Butternuss-Quesch-velouté star was excellent, and promised to come big ding. unfortunately the thing went downhill, I have already mentioned the terrible lamb, the fish of my wife was described as ok, but nothing special, and we were both underwhelmed by the brittle and dry crumbs dessert. 6) the restaurant then tried to overload us by 50.%, with a bill listing elements that we had simply not ordered or received. 7) I took the wrong bill to the maître d', and took the opportunity to list the disappointments of the evening. he has simply returned the bill without comment and later returned with a changed bill which he threw before me on the table, without commenting on my complaining. I live only 6 km from la coquillade, all year round, and will still be here to support local restaurants in winter, long after the tourists have gone. the management can cross my profile and see that there is a series of local restaurants that I have awarded with 5 stars, with only two to coquillade. this shows very well that the huge step that coquillade must make to yourself with the same of fleur de sel, piquebaure and david, regarding food and service. coquillade can have beautiful view and beautiful decoration, but I wasn't there to eat the landscape!"

We splurged by eating here on our first night at the resort. We have had many high end meals and they do it well! The service, execution and prices were great. Go!

"David's chef Emmanuel Champion left in the New Year and the restaurant was closed for redecoration. This is the first time we have been there since then and I am very sorry to say that, although the patron and one waiter are the same everything else has changed.Gone is the stylish but comfortable decor, the fresh table linen and in their place are wood-effect topped tables, heavy and rather low chairs but worst of all to traditionalist me, fake leather table mats. The two set price menus have the same offering of two choices for each of three courses but with a couple of exceptions these were neither seasonal nor especially local. The wine list is pretty much as it was. This new chef has a great deal to learn. His cooking is somewhat lacking in finesse. The first course of foie gras was not melt in mouth and was strangely topped with a chocolate flavoured jelly which I thought didn't work. The toasted brioche served with it was welcome as was the very small serving of chutney. The main dish was just clumsy. It sounded hopeful: John Dory with a boullabaisse sauce. The sauce was a lacking-in-flavour foam and the overcooked fish was sitting on two huge pieces of potato, also overcooked and a lump of carrot. I couldn't finish mine. Both desserts contained chocolate and I chose the bananas flambeed in rum on a biscuit. The bananas were cold cut into identical cylinders with a mousse in the middle, but the rum had escaped. I asked for the accompanying chocolate ice cream not to be served.I feel really sorry having to write this review because we have known and loved David since the early 1980s through the then third generation owner and chef, the present owner and his first chef to last night.I know, things, especially in food have to move on but............"
