"This is a lovely place to stop for a rest or toilet break.Nice friendly staff here.....3€ for a massive bowl of frites which compared to other places was very reasonable. A large bottle of tap water is free, so don't spend your €2.80 on a small bottle of Evian, ask at the till when you pay for your food. Brits, make the effort and try a little French, you will be surprised at where it will get you; a little Merci beaucoup or s'il vous plait does wonders. They also do lovely Tea....just ask! Be warned, the toilets are unisex. Ladies, the urinals are on the right as you walk in, do not be embarrassed as you walk in, as I was the first time, keep walking and the girlie toilets are there, just after the men. Also, there is no flusher, the toilet auto-flushes as you open the door to leave. Ate here all three days of my holiday...highly recommend!"

Great staff, friendly and fun. Good food! Busy at lunchtime. We preferred to beat the crowd by going there at 12.15pm.

Used daily during our ski stay, this is a great place - friendly, efficient, lovely home-made, freshly-prepared food. Super 'vin chaud' Great location, too .... Not to be missed !

A really nice mountain restaurant , with friendly staff. At the junction of many pistes, and the foot of 3 chairlifts, it's a great spot to meet up on the slopes. It's also quite an easy walk, 45-60 minutes, for non skiers.

Maroly is ideally situated for everyone to meet (skiers and non skiers) and we got a lovely seat on the terrace. Four of our party stood in queue for more than 40 mins waiting for food. When we got to the front, the chefs could not do enough for us. The food was really very good (and almost worth the wait) and to be fair I was determined not to like it, considering the length of time waiting. I have to say that I think that the service issues could be ironed out - just need a system. Speisekarte ansehen

every year when we come to the chinaillon for winter sports, le chalet du maroly is a place where we have the most time for a drink: on the morning for a coffee or a vin chaud or on the afternoon for a beer. the personal is friendly....The decoration is beautiful and the atmosphere is cozy. located at the lower edge of the Maroly/Tolar lift, it is also easily accessible for people who do not ski (on the side of the slope). limited number of seats inside but large terrace with relaxing chairs to enjoy a drink in the sun.

we enjoyed lunch here today while we have a friendly service and freshly cooked fish and chips with hot crispy chips and a large piece of beautifully cooked fish accompanied by beautifully dressed salate and a small dish very nice (homemade? tartaric acid. my man. has met a really good cheeseburger with fresh meat patty and raclette cheese. a glass genepi offered by the owner to finish, made a very welcome savoie touch to finish the meal. we will be back and recommend this stop to lunch during skiing in chinaillon, le granf bornand. great view of the maroly pisten also.

"Found this little place having walked away from one of those dreadful restaurants, where you arrive and the place is empty, and the snotty receptionist asks 'do you have a reservation? ' Instant put off in this day and age. So we walked. I treated a friend to supper, as she is going through a tough time, and it was the perfect choice. One tip, don 't be seduced by the first photo with the fire. We actually didn 't dress as warmly as we might have because we thought a fire in a small restaurant would be too hot. There isn 't one. But it is still lovely. Just dress with layers. The food menu is not large but it is really interesting and I have to say the food was fresh and a mixture of healthy, modern and delicious. The wine menu is also very good with something for everyone. The service was brilliant and the chap was so lovely and friendly he even told me my broken french was really good; Bless him. Left him a big tip. So to start, I had ceviche of three fish salmon, trout and (I should remember but don 't ; but it was exquisite see the photo. My friend had fresh home made butternut squash soup which was delicious as I helped her finish it off. For mains Sue had Tartiflette al la anciene (without cream and meat and had a small plank of ham as an accompaniement. I opted for a salad with chicken livers which wsa delicious. We shared a chef special for pud Coque aux Fruits which was like a think chocolate cup filled with exotic fruit and lime and it was really scrummy. Will def go back. Would probably share a starter as well as pud as they are a good size."

"In the summer, nothing but more pleasant than the altitude restaurants with most often a magnificent view and of course a terrace, here adorning a traditional savoyard chalet of the most blooming dates from 1788. On leaving the Grand-Bornand, a road on the right that climbs a few kilometers and thus arrives face to this superb building. Reservation indispensable because of course the number of places is limited and it would be a shame not to be able to stop there. Chalet in old wood, full of flowers, some antique objects and there, a fountain and this terrace with tables along a fence and view over the valley. A smiling welcome then an effective service once installed at one of the tables. You should know that when booking by phone, it will be possible to book one of the menus that includes either a tartiflette or diots. Here of course it will be a family savoyard meal prepared around the products of the region, so the Aravis. Of course, the famous farmer reblochon that is a raw milk cheese, handmade, on the farm and twice a day after milking, used for tartiflette and croutes. Milk comes from the only herd of exploitation, mainly from the Abundance breed. Then the diots that are small rustic sausages made in Savoy. They consist of chopped pork and scented with nutmeg and garlic and owe their origin to the word drawn from the dialect savoyard diot which means sausage, but which can also pronounce djo. Otherwise a card with some plates like the plate of the hiker with smoked ham, rosette, farmer reblochon, Savoie tomme and green salad. Or even the studded croute which is a slice of big mountain bread with smoked ham, gratined with farmy reblochon and also accompanied by green salad. Decorated asiettes with small flowers. There will also be some dishes of the day such as polenta and diots. For dessert, well on the blueberry pies with a homemade pie dough made with fresh mountain butter butter butter butter, as well as red fruit or cream and day dessert. A superb address to spend an excellent time in the sun in an enchanting setting."
