"Incredible! Me and my fiancé just recently moved to Witham and we love to find little gems to dine and enjoy a nice meal at and my goodness was El Pulpo one of the best night outs I've had in a long time. We started with a pleasant and warm welcome from the team and sat right near the entrance where we could enjoy views from the chefs cooking, music playing and drinks pouring from the bar. Me and my partner were recommended to get 3 dishes each but we went for an extra dish plus an appetiser because we was very hungry haha! We've been to a few tapas places in our years of finding great places to eat, so we knew what to expect but that didn't stop the waitress from giving her humble, pleasant opinions on what type of food to recommend and what's on the chefs special list....amazing hospitality! The cheese and ham croquettes were to die for and they compliment other dishes when mixed together. I loved the pork belly, it was seasoned perfectly, soft, and the crackling was unreal. I had no complaints with all of my dishes, they were all tasty and plenty to eat, you won't be disappointed on portion size. We'd highly recommend this lovely independently run restaurant and loved it that much we have booked again for next month! Keep up the great work El Pulpo."

"After reading the reviews we were excited to visit Called to book for the next day for lunch. someone said they would call us back they did the next day at 12.30! Waitress efficient but not friendly. 2 roasts ordered, 1 fish and chips. Tradional roast but Roast potatoes have garlic!! When asking waitress why doesn't it state on menu that theyare garlic as I don't like garlic her response was to blame me for not asking if the roasties were garlic ones!! I replied I didn't think to ask as its a roast potato she then ranted saying they can't possibly write all the ingredients of each item on the menu, and again I should have asked that I didn't want garlic with my roast!! Spoilt my meal completely. Cauliflower cheese is vile tastes powdery, watery and bland, Fish was very small and thin for a big price. Drinks way over priced. Waitress that bought the bill was again unfriendly. This is the first time I haven't left a tip in over 30 years!! WE WONT BE VISITING AGAIN. BASIC PUB. IMPRESSION. THEY THINK THEY ARE FAR SUPERIOR THAT WHAT THEY ARE. NOT EVEN BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE IS PROVIDED. 1 star given for the cajin chicken burger whi h was absolutely massive and delicious! Thick bacon. Delicious fries. Minus 3 stars for 3 lower than average meals Minus 1 star for unfriendly and blaming the customer for not being a Monday reader. £100 wasted!!!!"

"had many friends told me how great this place was so that only to visit. originally it was very quiet when I was opened, but rather quickly filled up, impressive for a Monday afternoon. the staff is very polite and attentive. It's good humor, but it's reasonable. the menu was amazingly varied for a small place, I was quite challenged o decide on the starter, finally on a delicious home made leber pate, with a less triangular of toast than had been perfect, but I had some of my role anyway. the nikon marmelade was also delicious. haupt was a seafood linguine with a spicy tomato sauce I had an salat with him, wanted to mix over the gland of dressing, but actually it has perfect the spice of sose complicated. only moan, nowhere to place the dishes. otherwise it's so beautiful. dessert was a medaillon pavlowa with mango and pineaple compotted with cream. the service is excellent, the venue is beautiful and the employees work on a very efficient organized regime. was it worth the trip? oh yes! loved the place very clean well maintained toilet, small parking, worth a visit."

"Food was nice, but some waiting staff seem a little inexperienced to be front of house for a restaurant that obviously prides itself on good Tripadvisor reviews. Buffet was quite expensive, and the restaurant honestly seem a bit nervous about losing money, hence the rules surrounding the buffet: Leftover food can 't be taken home (fair enough) excess leftover food may be charged for, everyone on the table must east the buffet, (so one person can not eat from the normal menu if others in the party are eating from the buffet). Staff wanted to know how many pieces of each starter we wanted, e.g Lamb Tikki. How many pieces? Two? Three? What would you give to someone ordering a starter off the normal menu? I 'll take that many please... Staff did not know the difference between the beers, saying 'it 's just a beer ' when asked the difference between two of the drafts. Small bottle of coke was £3.50. However, food was very nice which is the name of the game. Atmosphere was OK. Bill was quite expensive... I 'd go again if in a group."
