"What can I say about this restaurant and takeaway..... excellent springs to mind. The food is really good and I have yet to find a better Malaysian and Chinese. Run by a family you can certainly tell by their attention to detail. Always warmly welcomed,...whether we ordered a takeaway or ate in. I love the spicy beancurd for starters (spicy chillis and the crispy lettuce and lamb is so nice. The vegetarian dumplings are so good too I could order loads of starters and skip the main course! However, the mains are just as good I recommend the lamb rendang or the Prawn sambal as my two favourites!! The restaurant is cosy and a great local restaurant, but a takeaway is always good too. Without a doubt I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area as the food is sooooo good (and I have unfortunately we have now moved to a different area and I do miss this place. I do wish them every success as they totally deserve it!"

Stumbled across this place and was delighted with the food. Cosy, cafe feel to the place, very attentive service and first class food. A hidden gem.

We order from here fairly regularly and are big fans of the hot and sour soup, the mee goreng, and the crispy aromatic duck. The service is brilliant as well. A favourite.

A great choice of wonderfully flavoured food at very reasonable prices. The service is both friendly and efficient. This restaurant is a must whilst visiting Hither Green. Speisekarte ansehen

The service was excellent, the decor was nice. Food was so so. As a Malaysian myself, I might have expected a little too much. Other customers seems to be very happy though.

We are Hither Green locals and Matahari is the best Chinese/Malaysian you'll find in London. We go there or get delivery about once a week. The staff are so friendly and the food is so so so good. Try the crispy duck pancakes, crispy chicken...with spicy sauce, beef rendang and Singapore noodles. Can't speak more highly of this place. Love it love it love it.

Outstandingly good Malaysian and Chinese food Absolutely fantastic local restuarant in Hither Green producing outstandingly good Malaysian and Chinese food at a very reasonable price. The owners are always very welcoming warm and friendly and full of good suggestions of dishes to try. They also...offer takeaways and a phone out service. If you are in this part of London a visit is highly recommended Speisekarte ansehen

My family and I have been visiting/ordering from Matahari since it opened years ago. Lovely, family-run place with friendly, efficient service. Great value too. The food is fantastic, delicious sauces, particularly excellent prawn toasts and the soft shell chilli crab is to die for. At...some Thai/Malaysian restaurants the food especially the starters can be greasy. Not at Matahari I've tried most dishes on the menu and they've all been delicious. We've also been here for celebrations and the welcome and service has been great. Can't recommend highly enough!

We were lucky to discover this place via friends who were passing one evening and came away raving about the food. It's not particularly smart (it needs re-decorating) and it's got plastic table cloths, so you probably wouldn't go there for a romantic evening,...but the food is fabulous. Since I discovered their Rojak noodles (soft noodles with peanut sauce, so good) I rarely order anything else. The vegetarian crispy duck is a marvel too. The owners are friendly and it's clear they know most of their customers really well, which suggests they have a lot of regulars.

"Me and my flatmates went to Naifs to celebrate one of our own's MA degree with a nice meal, and we are so glad that we did. Anne and the team were incredibly personable and friendly, which really stood out to us. As somebody who has worked many years in hospitality, one can tell that there is clearly a very tight-knit team at work here who does what they do out of and with love. We really enjoyed the concluding chat with the kitchen team about the amazingly delicious olive oil they served us with the bread it comes straight from the chef's uncle's olive plantation! The atmosphere was really lovely as well, and a lot of thought clearly went into it: there were lots of candles, soft light, beautiful serving plates. We found the decor very tasteful in general: the restaurant has a cozy, but elevated bistro feel to it which makes it the perfect place for a broad variety of occasions. We had the set menu, which at 27 GBP came at very good value. The menu really demonstrated just how colorful vegan and vegetarian spreads can be: the colors on the table alone were such a delight to behold! Needless to say it also all tasted amazing. We particularly liked the mushrooms in lemony broth, the dhal and the aubergine stew. Every dish had a creative spin on it that made it into something we had never tasted in that way before. The wine that was recommended to us was very nice as well. We finished our meal with a selection of British cheeses, which was very well put together. Naifs focuses on seasonal and regional ingedrients, which is another factor that really convinced us, and which is something that more restaurants should focus on. Whether you're a veggie or not: if you want to dine at an all around truly special place, you need to try Naifs. Keep up the awesome work, guys we will be back very, very soon."

"my friend and I went to capitulate for dinner to celebrate his birthday, as was capitula, we thought the only decent restaurant in blackheath. all the others seem to be pushing down quickly. we have been in the past often in the capitulas, and the food and services were good we had no appetizers and ordered only one main meal (black foam and black bell), because we were not huge hungry because we were eating a lot of birthday cakes earlier! we had a glass of wine and were offered a piece of bread. 35 minutes later we waited for our food. in this time no one came to ask if we were in order or offer us more drinks. I asked the manager if our food was ready. he said it would be 5 minutes without a statement of delay then disappeared 10 minutes later there was no sign of food or manager. That is why we decided to go because we lost interest in eating. we have to go and the manager came by. he told us the delay was due to a big party in the ground floor. this was not the case, there was a group of 8 people who had finished their meal for a long time. we were there earlier when it was much more business and the service was not so bad. while we waited, we saw a customer who had finished their meal, slipped £20 into the manager hand when he left. Perhaps the workers need bribe to provide good services? it is such a scandal, but another blackheath restaurant has become complicit and believes that it with the treatment of its customers without respect. I will vote for one with my feet and will not eat again in this restaurant. I will also leave everyone I don't know to go there"
