Loved our awesome Ethiopian lunch and beer etc Could not ask for a more helpful and friendly restaurant. even helping us with buses to our next location Really enjoyable lunch and atmosphere.

Delicious vegan sampler for £11. Great portions and super tasty. My favorites were the carrots and the cabbage in the center but some of the lentils didn’t have as much spice. Would come back!

Amazing little treasure of a restaurant. I want to tell everyone about it, but I kind of want to keep it a secret at the same time. The zigni is the best I've had and would definitely recommend the traditional coffee to round off the meal. Speisekarte ansehen

This place is not to be judged from the outside. It may look small and easy to pass by but the food speaks for itself! The presentation alone is a statement piece! Their food transports your palate to Africa so delightfully. Staff was very friendly too, always smiling! Would definitely recommend checking it out :

Interesting food. Good time, good experience. Menu was a little confusing. Left the order to recommendation from the owner. What arrived was quite attractive and varied. Only advice would be to be more interactive and promoting of your great food to people who have never ordered Ethiopian food before. It’s was great, help the sharing of it easier.

I came here with my partner and her sister to eat something out of the ordinary. We received warmly the staff that was attentive and friendly, but not dominant.When the meal arrived, it was an incredible variety of flavors, colors and textures. Each dish, and I have already tasted most of them, is exceptionally tasty and go from soft to spicy. Since our first visit to Merkato, the staff was welcoming and friendly, in a more than educated way, but almost familiar. You get good size portions, especially for the price. The most pleasant Ethiopian gastronomic experience I have had, both in terms of service and quality of food. Even the food to take was a pleasant experience, although I recommend dinner if you can!

First Ethiopian food experience and definitely wont be the last! Hosts were very friendly and accommodating and helped with our choices. Food itself was very flavorful, all the meat were very tender and the presentation seemed authentic. Honey wine was fragrant and refreshing Meal for two including starter, big main course and honey wine was 40 quid, very reasonable considering the quality! Definitely recommend for anyone local (or afar) looking for a tasty meal in a relaxed environment

Firstly, I am unsure why they have potpourri on the dining table. The smell isn 't pleasant at all. Secondly, honey wine was served in a wooden wine glass , which I have some concern about its hygiene. It tastes like a yeasty juice. I don 't recommend it. Food was not bad ..the chicken and lamb stew from combo 5 both tasted very similar. With not much meat. The lentil yellow pea stew were our favourite. The cabbage green bean was the worst...we left it untouched after our first bite. I have always wanted to try Ethiopian food. I was a bit disappointed unfortunately and will not return.
