"A fantastic experience. Wonderful food, atmosphere service. My partner I had the tasting menu at Whistlers as a treat to celebrate a special occasion and every course was excellent, the range of flavours complementing each other on every dish. Our particular favourites were the monkfish tail with celeriac mash and apple, and the fillet steak. One thing to note is that the tasting menu will change regularly depending on the availability of fresh ingredients this didn't bother us as we were open to trying new things but if you're keen to confirm what will be on the menu I'd recommend calling on the day. The service was equally great we were made to feel very welcome and all staff were friendly and talkative. This really is a hidden gem and somewhere we will be sure to return to. If you're staying in Chipping Norton then add this to your list, you won't be disappointed."

"Arrived asking if still did food service at 14:20 to be told unfortunately food stopped at 2pm, but they can offer basket meals at the price of £8.50. Simple selection but with my mother of 78, it wasn 't ideal but we went with the flow. We paid an astonishing £36 for food and drinks for three. whilst ordering the drinks, some small talk from the barman/owner about a old mate coming down and that he 'd been 'Heineken 'd and probably feeling it later ' was the bar mans choice of words whilst serving us and discussing his day with other punters. Great! We chose to sit in the court yard, sun trap and beautiful but unfortunately smokers were there. Other couples we 're also informed of the late food basket ordering offered, some 20 minutes after us. Their food arrived within 10 minutes of them ordering. I then asked where our food was as it had been 48 minutes since ordering It takes time to burn the sausages he replied! (my mom asked for well done sausages! not burnt to a crisp! The meals arrived and to my shock, the content of the baskets of food was appalling! I asked for more chips as I had only 19 slim chips in the basket, yet the extras we asked for arrived within 5 minutes of complaining and asking for more. He thought it was so funny to make us wait 45 minutes for burnt sausages whilst clearing the plates away! Very disappointing to what seemed a good looking place! In summary, avoid if possible, as there are many other good food outlets in the area."

"On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff at the bar and chef sitting with some locals. Decor looked cosy and tidy but where we were seated considering the restaurant side was empty, it wasn’t appropriate. Some of the locals were rowdy and swearing a lot so not the scene of a couples dinner. Food came out very quickly which was good but presentation was poor. Almost seemed like the chef was hacked off he had to cook so just plonked it on a plate. There was more rocket on my dish than there was steak. Really poor food that you would expect at a much cheaper venue. Really not impressed. Filet of steak expected at the price they charged. Student cooking. Edible but not what you serve in a supposedly established country pub/restaurant. Spoilt a birthday meal out for my partner. If the food was better, this place would be awesome as it looks great."
