"There’s a few options for morning or afternoon tea, or a light lunch, while you are spending time in Shipley Country Park. The Nutbrook Coffee Shop is by far the most pleasant of them all, and certainly serves the best coffee of them all. It’s set in picturesque surroundings. As well as a contemporary inside dining area, it has two outdoor seating areas: one is under a marquee in the garden of the cafe, and the other is across the road in front of the cafe, with suitably spaced picnic tables under huge umbrellas. On the beautiful day we visited, the outside areas were extremely busy. The cafe is just beyond the south-eastern edge of Shipley Country Park, and is a good 30 minute walk from the park’s visitor centre. It’s a bit closer from the village of Mapperley, and is a 20 minute walk along the pretty Slack Road. However, the cafe attracts a lot of walkers and cyclists, not just from Shipley Country Park but because it’s on the popular car-free Nutbrook Trail between Long Eaton and Heanor. We called in for morning tea. There were very precise social distancing measures in place; we were assigned a table, then observed a one way system to order, with food and drinks being delivered to your assigned table. It was civilised and appreciated. We had morning tea at the coffee shop. The freshly-brewed double espresso and the flat white were outstanding. The cafe actually sells a range of packs of coffee beans so it’s apparent that decent coffee beans are sourced. This was accompanied by huge freshly-baked scones. What a selection to choose from: plain, fruit, raspberry and cheese. We chose the raspberry scones. Served with jam and clotted cream, they were outstanding. The menu for a light lunch is quite comprehensive, with a wide range of soups, sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes, sausage rolls and pasties. Service was charming and obliging, and we felt welcomed. It’s dog friendly (we had a dog with us), but it’s expected that you keep your pooch calm and settled. The coffee shop is worth seeking out. It’s a little gem, and it’s popularity confirms that!"

After a pleasant walk from Straws bridge a welcome hot drink on a very cold day at Nutbrook Coffee Shop was a great idea, very busy, quick safe service and a warmer walk back with a drink.

Walking from Straws bridge to Nutbrook coffee shop on a Sunday morning it was busy, but staff offer quick pleasant service of fantastic cake, had it to go to walk back a different route, taking our rubbish home rather than try and pile it up against a bin like some folk! Speisekarte ansehen

This café is a fantastic and inviting spot. My partner and I make it a regular weekend hangout whenever possible. It's dog-friendly, the food is amazing, and the cakes are tempting. If you're in the area on weekends, make sure to stop by. The staff are also incredibly friendly.

We enjoy strolling to Nutbrook Coffee Shop on the weekends. The food is delicious and they have a fantastic variety of cakes to choose from. The staff is friendly and we never have to wait long for our food. We always bring our dog for a puppiccino! It's the perfect pit stop during a long walk!

I.ove this coffee shop. The staff are friendly and well trained. The food is always piping hot and fresh, the cakes are beautiful. To look at and taste wonderful(don't tell the doctor) but the best thing about it is everyone has to get there under their own steam no cars or motorcycles(unless you count police motorcycles). Its a family run coffee shop and was hand built by dad plus some mates. Speisekarte ansehen

Superb service, interesting location, indoors and outdoor seating, and lovely coffee and snacks. Only open three days a week when we went, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No vehicular access, but very popular with walkers in Shipley Park. Shown to table on arrival, you order at the counter and your order is brought to your table. We had coffees and a lovely fresh raspberry scone with jam and clotted cream. Will definitely visit again, good value, lovely ambience and friendly staff

I had been to this restaurant before, but it had been a while. I was pleased to see that it was just as delightful as I remembered. This time, I visited with my children during a walk and we were very happy we did. We were greeted with a smile, which is always a good sign. The menu may be small, but it offers a variety of delicious homemade cakes, pastries, scones, snacks, and excellent coffee. The service was quick and efficient, and everything was very good, especially the raspberry scones. We enjoyed sitting back, watching the birds on the feeders in the nearby garden, and indulging in cake in a relaxing atmosphere. It's a lovely place to visit.

"we enjoyed another very pleasant dinner at the Dog’ in pentrich recently. it is a very civilized but relaxed escaping area, and the type of place where people are miles for, for the culinary experience traveling and with good ground. eating is good. the dining room is spacious, contemporary and beautifully furnished with a relaxed ambiente. also the adjacent bar area is very cozy and cozy. we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown on our table. the service was attentive and pleasant, without being overlaid or intrusive. our meals were very pleasant and we enjoyed the selection of things we had (start, head and dessert). However, it seemed to be some unconsistencies with a portion size. with the appetizers the leek and the potato portion was very small a piece laek about two centimeters long filled with cheese and in a sea of sauce to convey the grasp of “more”. the crispy szechuan cauliflower and aubergine, on the other hand, contained large parts of the two components of the teller. similar to the net, the green thai chicken contained three very large portions of huh in different shapes: a large chicken breast as the main component of the Thai chicken shell, accompanied by a huge serving of shredded chicken in rice, and a huge Bao beer filled with a large piece of baked chicken. while the various components were delicious, it was just chicken overload, almost like three main dishes as one, and much too much. the same applies to the puddings we have chosen. the dog inn trifle was a huge bowl with lemon-rossel sponge, with white chocolate-creuzard, and celestial gel and sorbet. the yorkshire rhubarb cheesecake, on the other hand, was a very small roll of cheesecake with a puppy game of rhubarb sorbet and a few pieces of poached rhubarb. our meals were certainly delicious, and we enjoyed them. the hanger steak was cooked nicely after a discussion about it; it was clearly stated on the menu that the hanger steak was ‘Served ‘Pink or well Done’, but we were informed that it could not be ordered well. which condition is then on the menu? the dog is worth looking. it is in the beautiful and historical village pentrich, on the b1016 between the towns ripley and alfreton in derbyshire. we're coming back."
