"After reading many positive reviews we were hugely disappointed with our visit. Orange juice the very cheapest served, when we saw them filling glasses they quickly hid the carton, we suspected as much given the taste was poor. Kids chicken goujon, dry, edges hard and not eaten, (very out of character) Poached eggs on the hard side, hollendaise sauce cold, and worst of all smoked salmon sandwiched between the bread and the egg meaning it was cooked! Cardinal sin. I was informed no muffins available so offered toast, opted for sourdough, very small thin slice which didn’t command the £10 price for the dish. Tea in a small tea pot, no option to take tea bag or leaf out meaning second cup was stewed. I know getting picky now, however when you are disappointed with most of the meal then there is little forgiveness for minor irritations."

"the best quality Indian meals have been eating since Westlondon. the chef has adapted the menu that produces an excellent chicken balti peshawari on request very attentive service with attentive suggestions by experienced staff steering 8 diners with a colloidal 320 years favorite Indian restaurants it is a small place, so book ahead. parking is a hunting around the side streets, but the effort is worth it. earlier decline of the visits were consistent with the quality of the meal"

"We visited during The Open mid July 2023 and ate from the special Golfers’ 2 course menu. I had the pork dish while my husband had the slow roasted lamb. Both were beautifully presented as well as delicious and served with seasonal vegetables cooked to perfection. Homemade bread and butter pudding and baked Alaska followed; both were the best we’ve ever tasted! We were told that this place is all about the food and indeed, the food wouldn’t have been out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. The service did not disappoint either. Julian and Jackie are a fab team. Yes, the decor/ambiance could maybe do with a tweak or two but this place is a hidden gem on The Wirral and great value for money."

"My first visit here and it was an excellent choice! A set menu but with various options including Vegetarian choices so something for everyone. The gentle background music was not intrusive for my Tinnitus and so it was easy to chat so many places are noisy the service was friendly and efficient, the food well seasoned and cooked. I was delighted to find a Tanner's Wine List with varied selection. All said a happy evening with good company."

"Manager always looks at his watch if you walk in at 8.30pm and says you 'll need to be quick as we close at 9.30pm. Rushes you continously and has obviously never had hospitality training. Heard him one time muttering 'come on lads ' to himself when approaching half 9. Went there at 8.40pm once and he said they were closed. If you are still there around 9.30pm he is literally sweeping the floor under your feet. We initially thought that it was quite amusing in a Fawlty Towers kind of way but it soon wore off after one too many glances at the watch. Used to be really good and on first name terms with the staff there. Not any more! Shame really because the food is decent and good value for money."
