"The refurb is great. The music was too loud until we asked for to be turned down. The menu is limited. The service is hit and miss. 5 drinks ordered and only three were correct. My fish and chips could have been served hotter and the chips were going soft. The mushy peas were puried!! The fish pies were served with cabbage . One of the two helpings were not cooked. Strange veg. for a fish pie. The fish pie was served in dishes and then plates were delivered. Considering the restaurant has been elevated!! They served ketchup in a grotty little bottle with no cap on it. Over priced in my view. Very disappointed as I was a fan of the old Prince of Wales even though it needed some upgrades, particularly the gents.."

The burger was tasteless. The bacon on it was soggy. Grated Cheese. No burger sauce. Portion of chips didn't even fill the cup they served them in. Great refurbished, abysmal experience. I'm local and don't bother again.

I had the most beautiful meals at all, even the chips were delicious and I am usually not a lover of chips. very friendly staff was also the service excellent. we will mark this place down to come back whenever we are in this area. Speisekarte ansehen

Lovely decor but massive let down on the food. Service poor- all kids who don’t know what they are doing. Food really poor- ‘rosemary’ chips confirmed as rosemary chips by the ‘chef’ didn’t have a single flake of rosemary on them! Overcooked, tasteless low end food. Really disappointed. Local who won’t visit again. Such a shame.

Beautiful interior update. Delightful and comfortable ambience. Excellent lamb first course. My husband’s sticky toffee pudding was good but not best he’s tasted. My Apple cherry crumble disappointing. Apple and cherry watery and mushy with barely a layer of crumble. Staff helpful and courteous. Will revisit when restaurant has bedded down.

The staff at this restaurant were charming and helpful. The interior has been completely renovated and creates a lovely atmosphere. The menu featured some tempting dishes, but unfortunately, my harissa pasta was flavorless and disappointing. However, my dining companions all enjoyed their meals. We were not informed that our table had another reservation, so we were asked to move earlier than expected. For these reasons, I can only give it three stars for the overall experience. Beautifully refurbished with nice areas for an evening pint. Such a shame about the food. Poorly cooked low end chain pub food dressed up in Gastro pub prices nothing local or fresh about this. Same old Prince of Wales. Staff untrained and inexperienced they are doing their best but most of them have no clue how to open a bottle of wine , pour a glass of champagne or make a cocktail. Champagne was warm. Not worth the walk across the green. High hopes for a good local pub at West End sadly crushed.

The restaurant has made a huge improvement with a great staff, a wide selection of drinks, and a lovely refurbishment. However, they need to address the cooking issues as portions are small and cold food has been served on a couple of occasions. This is not acceptable given the prices. Despite this, the flavors are good and the Styx selection is particularly enjoyable. Similar complaints have been seen in other reviews so it's important for the restaurant to address these issues before word spreads. The potential for success is there, so it's important not to miss out on it.
