"Excellent service, well looked after. The food was amazing, we eat out a lot and our meal was the best by far. I had the mackerel tandoori with squid bhaji to start, my partner had the mussels. The mackerel and mussels were so fresh, the taste was fantastic. It’s the first time I’ve had fresh squid and I was surprised that I enjoyed it. Main were sea bass and John Dorey. Both fish were amazing textures and tastes., with fantastic accompaniments and sauces. Sides of potatoes, wilted greens and tomato salad complimented the food, I especially liked the tomatoes. Even though I was fit to burst, I couldn’t resist a dessert, ordered the chocolate mousse with malt ice cream and salted caramel. Probably the best dessert I’ve ever had! Absolutely delicious! The taste and textures were exceptional This is definitely a meal we will not forget and most certainly will return when we visit Bude again. Outstanding, thank you."

"especially delicious cake! but beyond; a large selection of different cake fillings (including the amazing Christmas Turkey Pie). beautiful bratkartoffeln and veg options. great coffee. very friendly and welcoming service. very fast delivered. unpretentious surf-taste style tables and decor make for a really great ambiente that fits budes laid grape variety. best are PROPER pesses; a reasonable size for an individual (not far, but very satisfying) with golden, crispy crust pastes and generous fillings. not just a stupid piece of puff-tyety floating on a one-pot. pie heavens! we will be back as often as the diet permits."

"Despite booking well in advance, we were not informed about the set menu with limited options, mainly consisting of fish dishes. With no other choices available on a cold and rainy night, we were initially disappointed. However, the manager quickly made efforts to accommodate us, displaying kindness and thoughtfulness in ensuring our evening was a success. She succeeded in making our experience enjoyable at this popular venue with a lively atmosphere. The food was excellent, and overall, we had a great time."

"4.5 stars overall, very good. Positives: Very quaint ancient country Inn. Helpful when arrived, showed us around the rooms, etc. Spoke twice on the phone before the visit, again helpful. We booked all rooms for 1 night. Outdoor seating, so as nice weather, we had a drink outdoors as well in the courtyard. Internet in all rooms was ok (and I had EE signal as well in most places). To let you know: No restaurant, could use Breakfast room and Kitchen though (upstairs, so does not disturb the pub), which has oven. hob, microwave, toaster, fridge/freezer. Car Parking is free, but is a few min walk. All rooms upstairs, so not ok for disabled. Being an old building, the floors are uneven and a few steps up, then down etc. Sinks in each room, separate bath/shower/Toilet. Beds are resonable, clean etc. The builing is very old, but clean, and tidy. However, do not expect a posh hotel, this is a country Inn. Quite a way to walk to Bude/Beaches, but not far at all in the car (we had cars, so no issues for us). Negatives (although generally only minor issues): No TV in the rooms. I've not been at an Inn, Hotel etc without a TV, ever, so that is a first. Although, did not need a TV this time, sometimes it is needed on a wet rainy day if you cannot go out. As some lead water pipes, a water filter for drinking water would be nice. Take a 4 way lead with you, as you may need more power sockets in the room, especially if you have a number of gadgets, a fan, then put the kettle on (some sockets did have USB outlets though, so that was good). Some of the key locks on the room doors need some fixing, as they wobble, as does the bolt on the shower door. Overall, very happy, would stay again. Hopefully, the restaurant reopens as well one day, the room was lovely, just empty (we knew no meals as shown on their website, other booking Companies, perhaps need updating). We all helped with a Charity Skinny Dip in Bude for Mind (mental health charity) so cannot add photos here unfortunately!"

"yesterday after googling 'best restaurants in bude' enjoyed our first visit in the deck. we had kebabs surf and turf hanging, rack of ripen them into the mouth melted! the desserts were enormously too friendly staff, fab little snug and bar area with children games and toys. highly recommended!"
