Stanley - Speisekarte

Service good, but food average. Not much more to say about the restaurant. I am not saying it will stop us going back again, but not somewhere we would go for a special occasion.

While the food was great, the gentleman who greeted us was offhand from the moment we arrived until we left. There only was us and another table dining the whole time we were there. Will not be back. Never asked us if we enjoyed the meal, or thanked us. Very rude man.....the girl serving was lovely....shame

Quite possibly the worst restaurant I have ever visited, the owner is horrific with service and does not care about his customers. I brought my young son and was told he ‘best not get in the way’ upon first coming into the restaurant. Filthy place and food tasted like rats. Stanley himself took my order did not make any eye contact when taking our order was more interested in anything else. He was rude to his staff barking orders and shouting at them who I felt sorry for as ironically they were more welcoming than him . Atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming... Didn't get my order right gave me lemon chicken rather than orange, took it back into the kitchen and fobbed me off by just pouring orange sauce on the lemon chicken lol... Told them to do the whole dish. Starters were good that's it

Please disregard the most recent reviews! My family lives in Hessle and we have been to Stanley's a few times now. Each time, the food has been exceptional, with generous portions and delicious flavors at a great price. The owner is friendly, as long as you are friendly in return, which is not difficult to do. It appears that some reviewers may have taken things too personally, as anyone familiar with Chinese cuisine will recognize that this restaurant is authentic. We are excited to visit again and commend them on their fantastic work!

Although the service from the owner was lacking, the food at the restaurant was outstanding. The other waitresses were extremely friendly and attentive, assisting us in choosing our meals. They truly deserve credit for their excellent service, and the owner could learn a lot from them about customer service. When we left that night, we noticed the owner outside chatting and smoking with other customers, but he did not acknowledge us or thank us for our visit. Despite spending a significant amount of money at his establishment, he showed no appreciation towards us. I have ordered takeout from this restaurant many times and always enjoyed it. However, my first dine-in experience during the Christmas period with my family was disappointing and will be our last. The food was good, but that was the only positive aspect of our visit. The service was slow due to a lack of staff, although the few that were working, particularly the two women serving, were pleasant. The man, possibly the owner, was rude and did not acknowledge us when we arrived or when we left. When we asked for milk for our baby during the meal, we were simply told they did not have any, which seemed unusual for a restaurant. Went for meal last night. On arrival, the manager/owner ignored us then abruptly and quite rudely marched us to a table and slapped menus on the table. We waited a good 20 minutes to order food or drink, bear in mind there were only 3 tables other than ours at this stage. We ordered one of the banquet menus and waited another half hour for the starters to arrive. In the meantime we had a heat tray and a dish of dipping sauce delivered but nothing to dip in it. We last came here in February of 2022. A spur of the moment choice which we were very thankful for. We came this time, on a Sunday evening for a friend's birthday. I'd booked a table weeks ago, but, thankfully, the restaurant was very quiet. It had been a very warm summers day and we were all very grateful for the air con! We'd already decided to have the mixed platter of starters, so we all had just one item of each. This was priced at £8.50 per head. In hindsight, we'd order differently next time. We all agreed that the star of the platter was the prawn toast. Thick bread topped with very meaty prawns, and very thickly covered unlike a lot of places. We all agreed that was the best starter...
