"I've just had the most relaxing four nights at Bankground farm. We stayed in The Loft' cottage, which had everything we needed for a self contained stay, including a lovely fire with firewood supplied. The location is amazing, with stunning views over the lake and further on to The Old Man'. What really appealed to me is Bankground farm is away from Coniston center, but very close if you need to pop out to the pub/shops etc.Jonathan and his team of staff were very welcoming, had excellent local advice and knowledge of things to do and see around the area. It was nice that the staff had time to have a chat.As Bankground farm is a working farm, it is an ideal place to stay with kids, to give them a country/farm experience. While we were there we visited the cows and saw some new born lambs, all of which added to the experience of our stay.I can't wait to get back for my next visit, and I won't even consider staying elsewhere in Coniston."

Nine girls had a fantastic Hen weekend in The Barn. The views were amazing and the lake a short walk away for activities like paddle boarding, which was amazing.

Beautiful place and outstanding setting. The service was excellent a lovely cheery lady looked after us so well. Jonathan was very understanding with our Kate arrival for dinner after a 3 hour diversion for the M6 closure. Nothing too much trouble. The room was spotless and the bedsswere so comfortable. Home from home. We hope to come back for a longer stay.

We recently stayed at Bank Ground Farm and had the most wonderful experience. The views are absolutely stunning, the staff are super helpful, and the food was delicious (breakfasts, dinner, and a packed lunch). Great place to escape, get some peace and quiet, and enjoy the lake (we also hired a boat from Bank Ground and had a fab time). Thank you so much for a lovely holiday!

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
