"The menu had a decent variety, though it wasn’t particularly extensive and I was surprised not to see a specials menu. I chose the fish and chips with garden peas, while my friend ordered the chicken and leek pie after enjoying a starter of creamy garlic mushrooms. The portion sizes were impressive; the fish was one of the largest I've encountered in a pub or restaurant, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The chips were tasty, but a few were quite thick and slightly undercooked. For dessert, I opted for the chocolate orange cheesecake. It was delicious, but given the price, I felt the portion could have been larger. Unfortunately, I can't say whether I would return, as it seems this establishment is set to close in 2023. Based on my experience, I doubt that the closure has anything to do with the food quality."

"as usual, eating was excellent and our favourite in the pub area. the only difference in this time was the service in which we felt forgotten when we were chatting busy but had to catch attention to give our order and sweet order, but the personal was still very nice. we have come for many years and have stayed there and we would recommend it. the sweets are the best."

"This is by far the worst meal out experience I’ve had in my life which has driven me to leave this review as soon as we left sitting in my car. They took other people’s orders before ours and totally forgot us, waitress was getting frustrated at us when we asked questions to do with the menu (also didn’t make eye contact but just huffed and puffed, they brought us a number of wrong dishes that they later changed and my sons dish happened to be wrong that I realised halfway through him eating it. Steve (their waiter and a very nice man) acknowledged it was wrong and said it would be knocked off the bill, the man at the bar along with the female waitress who took our order proceeded to literally shout at me because we notified them about that dish at the end. To start with, she said it was right until she checked with the kitchen, but still she wouldn’t apologise. Never have I felt that disrespected and verbal aggression towards be by restaurant workers. Even 2 other tables next to us told my wife that the service had been terrible. And just to top it off, mine and my wife’s dishes had no flavour whatsoever! Avoid this place, it’s expensive and you’d get a better meal and service at your local takeaway. Photo is the dish they tried to tell us was ‘house hot spicy chicken wings’, when Steve (their nice waiter) clearly told us that it was their ‘house Cantonese wings’! I know Chinese, and this dish was clearly Cantonese sauce!"

"My partner and I were treated to a spot of lunch by my parents today. First time for us but the 'rents had raved about it for a long time on their many visits by canal boat to the area.The food was delicious. Home cooked and generous portions with so much to choose from. The service was spot on too, very friendly and looked after us so well, even during these Covid19 times. All social distancing and government guidelines well in place and adhered to. The processes they have in place work well and visitors are clearly instructed on what to do. Will definitely return and recommend to anyone, top class hearty homecooked food, friendly service and very reasonably priced. Will be back!"

"I had been looking forward the food here as it had been highly recommended by several people. However, we were far from impressed. There were 4 of us who arrived at 1pm on a Wednesday lunchtime. The pub was busy with diners as there was a 2 for 1 deal on selected January dates. 2 of our number ordered scampi. It arrived quite dark as if it had been in the deep fat frier too long. The chips were quite average and the peas arrived as the meal was 2/3 eaten. I had chicken Thai curry. The chicken was overcooked. The curry couod have had a bit more flavour. My wife had the liver which also was tough and very average. Her brocoli was yellowing and none of us was impressed sufficiently to want to rush back. I would have preferred to pay full price for better quality food. Sorry for the poor review but you failed miserably today. You only get 1 opportunity to make a 1st impression and this wasn't a good one."
