"I have eaten many paints in black horse in hookwood, but this time was very disappointed. there was nothing wrong with eating, the problem was the service. on a Saturday night, there were only 2 employees. if it is a pub with a large garden in the open as well as an L-shaped dining area, is not enough. a worker was experienced, but obviously worked out from another pub. we sat pretty fast and distributed menus, but were not asked if we like a drink. we waited more than 10 minutes before my friend went to the bar to ask if we could order drinks. our order was taken over at the same time. our common starter was served, but if we wanted to order another drink, we couldn't get the attention of the waitress so we had to go up again and ask for our drink order. the main course was served, but there was an article missing and it was obvious that it was forgotten to be ordered as the waitress had disappeared until she came back with the article. our eating was nice and it was hot so no complaining about eating only the service. the waitress was busy and she didn't seem to stop, but she wasn't aware in the position that she was focused on the table that she was not serving to check how all the other tables did so that she couldn't get her attention when she didn't look at us at another table. with a pub like the black horse with small corners and tables spreading out the employees need to check on all customers, even if there is a quick look as the next table is served. I am not sure if this is something that comes with experience, but it was certainly missing this day"

I just sunk for fast unplanned eating. they really looked after us. the staff was great, friendly and professional. Eating was also ok, not from this world, but good value and pleasant enough.

Stopped ahead of our flight from Gatwick, we got there just after opening time at 12.30 and couldn't fault the service and quality of the food. We had a burger and a cobb sandwich. Staff were friendly and decent pricing.

they have eaten here before they stay close to a hotel. really good steak fries, although you were less than medium. I didn't have all puddings, but what we had was good. all fresh and delicious. friendly service, cheap. it was pretty busy.

excellent meal for the first night of our holiday before we fly tomorrow. the food was nice. good price, good quality and very tasty the service was excellent. friendly, fast, professional. the young people who served us were brilliant. many thanks.

this is a great pub, friendly staff, beautiful ambiente, large garden and good for children also and all very well maintained. highlights are the food that was excellent at my last two visits. I am a private employee, so I will often revive this jewel.

Lovely place for a drink and a meal. A menu to suit most tastes at reasonable prices. The food arrived in good time with friendly smiles, well presented and very tasty. The staff were great and couldn't have been more helpful...thanks everyone.... we'll be back!!!

beautiful place and great eating! loves the small playground in the garden much space and my daughter loves it! great table service and the kids burger great value for money more like a adult burger my daughter loved it! and additionally bonus for garden heating for the evening!

What a lovely place . We were staying round the corner in a b b so a nice little walk for an evening meal and drinkipoo. Food was really nice we both had the chef's special pie with mash and cabbage absolutely fabulous good portion size and very tasty. Staff were really nice and attentive fab place all round.

Always enjoy a meal at the Black Horse, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is always well prepared with good portions. For me it's what a traditional pub should be, not too posh but with a nice atmosphere, hopefully it will remain that way and then my family will continue to visit and enjoy a good meal. Give it a try, well worth it.
