"We booked The Dam Inn's function room for our daughter's Christening party and we were overwhelmed by the level of professionalism and the quality of the service and food. Josh and his team pulled out all the stops and truly gave us a magical day! Given that we requested the room on Easter Sunday and knowing the kitchen staff would have been run of their feet, the food was plentiful and absolutely gorgeous. There were more than enough staff on hand to serve drinks and they were keen to ask if we had everything we needed. A truly first class experience and all our guests commented on how fantastic the day had been. We can't thank you enough for making our daughter's day very special! 5 stars well deserved!"

I had the 10oz Gammon with soft fried egg, 2 warm pineapple rings, 2 onion rings, plus tomato and superb chips. All for £10.45. The service was excellent, very friendly staff.

Called in on a Friday evening around 19:30 after a walk around Newmillerdam. Nice pub, friendly staff although a bit disappointing to find they weren't serving food, no food times on any menu either.

Very busy pub at weekends and peak times. Good menu and lovely carvery. Service is good. Decent range of beers. Separate pub and dining area tables available Al fresco too. Parking is an issue. Worth a check.

The Dam has recently changed hands and the new owners have introduced a new, interesting menu. Food was generally good but they need to improve the finished products. Servers were very friendly and attentive. Will go back.

We had a super afternoon at The Dam Josh and Tom were amazing looked after the 5 of us the pub was in an lovely setting and despite the awful weather (Storm Eunice) we were cosy and warm sat by the fire. The music was awesome one of the reasons why we stayed for over 5 hours and even though Long island iced tea wasn't on the cocktail menu Josh looked up the recipe and made up a jug for us definitely a pub we would recommend.

After we have lived in the village for over 13 years, we decided to organize two family events recently. the spacious bar area and the restaurant were ideal for catering for our specific needs. we were even able to use a private room on the back of the restaurant for our functions! the food and the drinks were cheap and the quality and service was simply excellent! everyone who came was given of care and attention to detail in each of the nights! for a great function or just a quiet pint with friends who has inn everything with a warm and welcoming atmosphere to boot! big thanks to paulxxx and all workers keep the good work!

"My wife and I had dinner at Coraima this evening whilst staying in Wakefield and what a delightful restaurant it is. The simple and authentically decor provides an instant relaxed atmosphere. We started with drinks. I had a Telba (a cold drink made with ground flax seeds) and my wife had a Beso (a cold, slightly sweet roasted barley drink). Both were delicious. For starters we shared a Beetroot Salad. It was very fresh with a delicately flavoured vinegar type dressing. As neither of us had had Abyssinian cuisine before, we decided to go for the 'Combination dish for two ' to give us an overall taster of their menu. A large round slate plate arrived with nine perfectly neat individual dishes sat on an injera (a slightly sour flat bread made from teff flour) with a further six neatly rolled injeras and four small chickpea flat breads. Every dish was very well spiced and made with care. Delightful and moreish. By the time we had eaten the whole plate we were nicely full but it did not feel heavy. We rounded the evening with hot drinks of a Shay (a North African spiced tea) and an Abyssinian coffee. The coffee (and popcorn) is not cheep at £9.95, however, this is by far the best coffee I 've ever tasted and a must for any coffee lover. We were informed that they roast the beans with spices in-house. Another sign of their dedication to present an authentic experience delivered with passion. Thoroughly recommended. Some additional information: 1. The restaurant is vegetarian and gluten free. 2. We had to pay a £20 no-show deposit when making the online table booking the day before, although, this has become, understandably, quite common for independent restaurants."
